karu is nice, but ing expensive as all hell. i think the beers were like $14 without any tip. the mainroom is too loud (my ears bleed even with earplugs), and theres no smoking in there. plus, if you're planning on having a good time, make sure you know that karu is also a restaurant, so expect to smell fish and all kinds of nasty . wasnt a pleasant smell at all during conference. you wont smell it at all while in the mainroom (if thats were morillo will be playing) but while walking to the bathrooms or outside to smoke or to just get inside, you will get a wiff of it for sure.
i for one wont be going back there. |

Yea i wouldn't pay 60 bucks that's for sure; however, I found Karu-Y to be an awesome time when i was there for WMC. I saw Sander Van Doorn, Blank and Jones, Above and Beyond AND Tiesto---all in the same night there. I think by far and away it's the nicest venue in southbeach. I'm going on 30 so i truly enjoyed the nice amenities and surroundings. I don't mind the no smoking thing b/c i don't want to smell that S**T in my face! It's not a big deal to just step outside....especially when it's so beautiful out there. It's like an Oasis in the urban/downtown crap that is Miami/Overtown. Yes the drink places are expensive.....so for me...it's a place i'll go for a special event....not a regular hangout.
It will likely fail b/c the outside tottem garden area (the best part of the venue) is not being utilized as it should/could due to the noise restrictions that have now been leveled. It truly is ashamed if that place goes under b/c i think it had tremendous potential. Just a bit ahead of its time there perhaps.
I for one think Space is hands down still the best CLUB. But many people don't always want to go to a "hardcore" club like that. There are many children there...and the hoodlums.....there's zero dress code. So.....for many....Karu-Y would be a nice alternative.

Beers are 8 dollars.Not too bad.Liquor are the same prices as the beach.
Really i love this venue.K&Y brings hot ass chicks and not really a bad crowd at all.I'm extremelly biased because i get hooked up there but i deffintly think they run that club beautifully.Also im a big Erick Morillo fan and this club is perfect for him.He's supposed to spin till afterhours and since K&Y can stay open later look for EM to spin for longtime in a more intimate setting.As far as accomidating the crowd well my friend the manager of K&Y told me that they will limit ticket sales and also only let in enough people not to overcrowd the venue.I for one will be in attandance.This will be a special party mark my words.
1.It's EM's first time back since Ibiza, so look for alot of new sick tracks.As EM tore up Ibiza this Summer.
2.Personally i like a venue like this for dj's like Morillo because it's more of an intimate venue and you can really see EM get into it.
3.There will be tons of top quality ass.
4.The fact that K&Y has a patio is something people should keep on the lookout for when EM spins at this venue.;)
5.Last of all Erick is one of my favorite dj's who always brings it.
Besides it's Free for me to go so why not. |
