i don't think they're allowed to use any form of technology..that's the whole point of being amish...u live the life according to the bible as it was "back in the day" :D

Not exactly. The Amish (as well as old order mennonites) reject anything that distracts from or their relationship with god or their family, or has potential to be a cause of conflict. Many take this to mean all technology, symbols of status, demarkers of wealth etc. Many Amish and Mennonites will allow limited technology, especially with regard to business operations.

Mennonites are not Amish? I was led to believe they're one and the same. Like Amish was the derogative term for Mennonite. Like... well I won't give examples.

But someone please explain... actually that I'll go hit up wiki.

EDIT:
ahh - "In 1693 Jacob Amman led an effort to reform the Mennonite church: to include social avoidance of baptised members who left the church, to hold communion more often, and other differences. When the discussions fell through, Jacob and his followers split from the Mennonite church. Amman's followers became known as the Amish. The acrimony between the two groups was so severe that they reportedly refused to talk to each other when they found themselves together on the same boat sailing to America."

technically, amish are mennonite, but few mennonite are actually amish.

so yes.

and amish chicks? yea they look like average german chicks with the exception that they are extremely shy! if i was to try to talk to one at a farmers market back home, they'd just giggle and walk out of my life while a tear runs down my face and i stare at the hypnotizing fabric that her ankle length overall/dress is made from and contemplate purchasing nectarines from her father in exchange for the goat i brought after having sheared it a fortnight ago.

Anyone remember that reality TV show called "Amish in the City" a year or two ago?

Aparently a lot of girls found that dude in the middle hot.

Later in the series, they pimped the girls out and turned them into hotties... I couldn't find a better pic than this one though

that was a really interesting show. there were a lot of things that were brought up that people didnt know.

for those of you that dont know, the amish are actually given a 1yr period where they can leave the amish life and go into the city. they can do as they wish, doesnt matter what they do, for this one year period. once the time is up they must choose their new life or their former life. if they choose the new life, they are basically shunned, lose their whole family, etc.

also with technology. things such as cell phones are first allowed but its just for a trial period. they evaluate the impact it has on their society and the religious and familial implications it has. once the elders have determined it is or is not detracting from their religious and family focus they ban or allow it permanently.
Aristronica
so i guess the CORe would be banned by the elders then.
