I disagree. Trance was fairly new at those stages. Atleast for the general public. It was something new, it was a fresh change in music and people welcomed it. Then ppl just got stuck to it and refused to beleive that Trance could change it could evolve it could be more than just what Oakenfold's Essential Mix tour is (although it was a magnificent tour) Trance now a days in my opinion is way more better than what it was in 1999. You have to look beyond Armin Ferry Tiesto to see that. From guys like Brian Rogers to guys like Galen Behr Frase and Abott and Chambers are all doing some amazing work in Trance. Trance is alot more than hands in the air long breakdowns tunes now. Trance now is more melodic. It is more upbeat and i for one enjoy every moment of it :)

One question for you all:

In one word, or a short phrase - How does trance make you feel?

be honest... no right or wrong answers here obviously.
I know that different beats make you feel different emotions... but trance in general.
my answer was: disconnected or intangible

Merci :)

Cenik did a paper on the same thing. He came here just like you, and never left.

Welcome to TA.

I think oakey's sound is just as good as today's stuff, he is the GRANDFATHER OF TRANCE...those new guys u listed i've never heard of, but i guess thats local trance scene..i might be wrong.. as far as how trance makes me feel... i basically describe it as a rush up your spine (no i am not on drugs) ...tinglly i guess

Oakey's sound from back in the days will always be good no doubt. He brought Trance to a new level in those days. I still enjoy listening to those sets just as much as i enjoyed them when i first heard them. The point i was trying to make is that since that time Trance has changed and it has changed for good. The guys i listed are not locals they are international talent and yes you probably never heard of them because they dont care about Dj Mag polls and who is number one or number 20. They just care about making good tunes which to me should be the key to success for every producer.
