Hey guys, I'm offered a pair of CDJ 800's MK1 for $950 or pair CDJ 1000's MK3 for $1,600. Both used of course.
I need some practical opinions, which one do you prefer in this case and why?
Thanks,
Jon |

I would personally go with the 1000's if I had the cash to do so. That's a helluva deal if they're in good condition.
Although, if you're just doing straight mixing and don't need the added features of the 1000's the pair of 800's for less than a K is a good deal as well.
Tough decision. Just know that pretty much any route you go with this is a good deal assuming the CDJ's are all in good quality condition... |

| id take the 1000s MK3s..i love em..i love how u can turn that knob to make the jog wheel heavy..i love to have the wheel heavy..the 800 MK1 is the first CDJ 800 to come out..right now they have MK2s..the wheel on the MK1s is so sensitive..u could push it and it would probably spin around 100 times easily..CDJ1000 MK3s all the way |

| I'd go with the 800's then spend the rest on a Rane rotary mixer. I found not much a big difference in the 800s verse the 1000s, just a big price gap!! I returned the 1000's and exchanged for 800's and used the money returned to buy a laptop... I'd say just get the 800's and use the money saved to buy a good mixer like a rane ;). 800's and 1000's are practically the same in a home studio enviornment IMO. If your planning to spin at clubs dont worry if you know how to use a CDJ 800 you'll defintely catch on the cdj 1000 right away as it is virtually the same as in dj'ing function and tempo matching etc. |

| Tighter mixing with the 1000s tho. 0.02% as opposed to the 0.05% |

100% agree, and I have 1 CDJ-800 MK1 and 1 CDJ-1000 MK3 (which is actually being temporarily substituted for with a Numark Axis2 while it's on loan...kill me). Sure, you have slightly better pitch ranges on the 1000 mk3, and adjustable platter, and a nicer display, but the fact is the 800's will work fine for you. It's doubtful you'll use the mp3 function on the 1000mk3 (as nobody seems to do so), the hot loops/cues aren't used at all until you're very familiar with the CDJ (and even then most don't use), and the control on an 800 is just fine. I do think that $975 is very high for a pair of 800 mk1's. I'd say $900 for both, assuming they're mint. I bought my 800 for $375, and it hasn't failed me yet. |

| ^ I placed the bid on craigslist, and there was 3 people in total that messaged me about my CDJs. One person offered the $800. I told the second person to message me that someone will buy them for $800, but then said they'll pay more for em. Same with the third. So it got to $950 currently. |
