getting a job around LA??

So whats up guys. I live in Mississippi...a long ass away from you guys, but I came out there for EDC this year and had a ing blast. The weather alone makes me want to move out there! One of my buddies from here moved out there about 5 years ago or so and he said it really isnt that hard to pay the bills and . My main concern would be finding a job to support the bills by myself of course. And right now I only bring home about $1800 working for Regions mortgage as a loss mit counselor (collections). Thats pretty good money considering im 23 and have no college degrees at all.

So my question is, what is the average hourly rate out there? And if someone knows of any collections/mortgage companies that might be looking to hire then let me know...or if im not able to find a job in that field, what would some other jobs pay me?

THANKS in advance!

they can help you find a job in a matter of days, in almost any field, and in your salary range.

you can look for temp Agencies. That's how i have my current job. I started out at $14/hour which is alright. The only downside are taxes and stuff. I get around $110 taken out of my weekly pay. Make sure you do your research dude. I'm working for Kelly Scientific, a temp agency specializing in science jobs.

I used to work for Option One Mortgage. They are in Irvine which is about an hour from LA without traffic. Their Servicing Division is always looking for loan counselors. I still know a few team leads so if you see any positions you are interested in let me know, I'll forward your resume.

dude...some of the job listings are exactly like what i do here...whats the pay like? you know? I was looking at the Loan Consultant III position...3-5 years experience and all, seems fitting for myself...do you know what the pay for that would be?

the only downside to that is being an hour away from la...i want to live right around la

but hell, if it pays well enough...im down for anything new really!

CountryWide in Simi Valley. Without experience/degree they pay about $2100 a month for doing B&C collections. With some experience you could probably ask for $2400-$2800 a month.

Check their website for job opportunities, with all the goin on in housing market im sure they need people for collections. Id get a place in the northside of Valley, 25 min drive to work 30 min drive to Hollywood.

whatever you do, don't work for countrywide.

thats pretty decent money for being out there i would imagine...and why wouldnt i want to work for countrywide? from what i read it seemed like bank of america might buy it bc the owner of countrywide is jumping ship...that doesnt necessarily mean that all the countrywide locations or employees would be let go

im sure that could be a possibility, but not something that would definitely happen...im trying to think if bank of america has a mortgage servicing department?? hell...we at regions have been servicing a good bit of countrywide loans for a while...about a year and a half ago almost 200,000 transfered to us

this is good information though guys, and i really appreciate it..if you have anything else PLEASE dont hesitate to tell me!

anyone have more information they want to contribute?

this so called "hour away from LA" thing is BS...both from OC and simi valley.

true, under IDEAL circumstances, one hour. but more realistically is 2-3, and if you catch it just wrong, 4-5. Sadly, I would choose simi over OC though, despite the rednecks, which is the main reason I left ohio. At least I can relate to em, even though I hate em. And "just wrong" from simi is harder to come by than OC in my experiences...though I bet there is more leg breaker positions in OC. I dunno about that last bit though, just an assumption.

I believe Loan Counselor I start in mid $30,000, so Loan Counselor III may start in the mid to upper $40,000 (but don't quote me on that). Its a good company to work for, but they are in the middle of being acquired. The Servicing Division is probably going to be the only area that survives the acquisition.
