A spectrum analyzer and side chaining functionality. The drum rack looks good too...been bummed about not being hands on since I got rid of my mpc...hurrah!

i love ableton but i think they are too late on alot of these additions...all of this stuff (especially true sidechaining) should have been in by ableton 4 or 5, not 7. i think alot of potential users were lost to logic and PT over the last 3 years because they were implementing these things. they finally improved the digital summing which will put it up there with logic in terms of overall mixdown engineering, but there is some speculation with the beta as to if its really that much different than the summing from before.

i also wish they would improve alot of the native plugins, especially the reverb which blows nuts compared to the ones in logic.

i will still use abletons sequencer and audio editing functions (which are FAR superior to logics tedious crap), but im defo piping each channel into a respective logic channel via rewire to use the logic plugs.

Agreed. I'm using Logic 5.5 as I have a pc... ableton is secondary though as you said, I love its audio editing capabilities... it's quantization features or lack there of blows epic nuts.. even in version 7 I imagine.

some good updates but nothing spectacular. already have free, working sidechain compressor plugin for live, so them implementing it native doesn't do much for me. i've never used the native plugs for sounds so those new things they've added don't do much either unfortunately

will be getting this for the improved stability, performance, and resource mgmt over any of the bells and whistles.

not being a fanboy or anything.. but i've never encountered any quantinization problems with live :conf:

I just wish I understood any program other than Ableton so I felt like I had a little bit of versatility - but for now, Ableton is the only piece of production software I even remotely understand, so will be picking this up ASAP.

I didn't mean I had problems with it... I meant that it lacked quantization features to variate midi note placement like Digital Performer.

push ctrl+1 in the midi view to increase granularity of midi placement. you can also turn quantizing totally off to place notes anywhere. i can't imagine a situation in which anyone would need more variability than that.

I already know about those features. Have you used Digital Performer before?
