Lately my right ear has been hurting a bit, kind of like over pressure-sensitive. I've been producing in closed-cup ears (ow) for the past week or two, could this be the damager? Have you ever experienced this?

snap, except its my left ear. i do tend to use my left ear for monitoring when djing and stuff, might try and break the habit and swap ears. not sure whats up with it tbh, possibly build of wax, maybe an infection? i get this weird dripping kinda noise out of the blue, for no apparent reason.:conf:

| ppl are always bitching about their hearing on this forum...i'm sure if you searched you'd find a thread or two regarding the subject...and it's pretty common sense if you ask me: if you are producing with closed ear headphones for 2 weeks at a high volume...then what do you think is gonna happen? |

How long do you want to produce music for? A few years? Then yes, crank up the volume and feel that massive wall of noise blasting your eardrums! Enjoy it while you can!
But if you're planning to produce all your life, treat your ears as your number one asset. Don't subject them to loud noises. I wear ear plugs when I go to raves, I listen as quietly as possible when I wear headphones. I crank the monitors very briefly to check the low end of my mixes, and that's it. I want these ears to be as good as possible when I'm 80 and mixing. |

Yes, at reasonable listening levels they should be fine.
Maybe you're just coming down with a cold of some sort and your ear will be fine when you get over it? |

Sometimes the voume has nothing to do with the pain, but, the pressure of the headphones.I try to use them in the bigger measure, otherwize, the pressure makes me feel pain, and other annoying feelings.
