Hey all,

What midi controllers are you using for live performances :)

Also what are the specs of your laptops.

Thanks :)

I have been playing out on ableton for a little over a year and I think the two basic things you need are a MIDI interface and some sort of additional mixer for hot cues, effects and if you want to run more then 4 channels.

I use a fast track pro to cue and make better sound quality

And a UC33...I would say a huge majority of the the DJs I have seen use this unless they are working on a Zone or a 800.

These are just to tools I use...Abelton is a beautiful thing as it is so flexible.... so be as creative as you can afford.

Me thinks this should be made the official Live PA thread.

I haven't done a proper live PA of my own tracks but I'm going to soon.

Laptop
Acer TravelMate 4064
2ghz Intel Centrino
1gb RAM (266mhz :()
100gig hdd (4200rpm)
15.4" Wide LCD
I'm using my Scratch Live box as a sound card.

Midi Control
Behringer BCF-2000 (I LOVE THIS THING!)

i've been using ableton exclusivly since January. the midi gear has changed a bunch but i'm happy with what i have now:

PC 1.8ghz, 1.5 gigs of RAM
MOTU Ultralite (using all outs)
Novation Remote SL - for live keyboards, effects, multiunits, racks, etc
Korg PadKontrol - for a lot of cool stuff, including my own glitch effects, whitenoise, percs, vocal samples, etc

i love my rig

I think the UC33e or the MPD24 are best. On the MPD, you sacrifice a lot of knobs for larger clip trigger buttons.

I don't know why people get so exited it doesn't look like anything special.
Are people really prepared to buy something completely overpriced because it has a popular name to it?
Well if history has anything to show then id say yes :stongue:

I wonder if they will be exactly the same(prob not) , I love the lights on that maven, looks like a space ship. we will soon find out if the maven is really worth its money or just a midi controller with pretty lights.
