Decided to check out what all the hooplah is about this DAW and i must say it is fantastic. I can't understand why anyone making EDM wouldn't be excstatic about this program. |

So... what's in this DAW that is especially appealing for EDM producers?
EDIT: Easy sample usage like FL? No. Sound mangling like Live? No. Sound library management like ACID Pro? No.
IMO it is probably geared towards 'bands', i.e., people predominantly working with recorded audio. Just my thoughts, now give me a penny. :) |

well the fact that it has free routing blows FL out of the water. And as far as sample management , who actually uses their native daw rather than a vst that will do it better ie Kontact. THe engine is 64 bit , full UAD - 1 integration. It is less clunky , gets updated way more and is just way more powerfull. You can customize anything. HAve you actually tried it or are you just kinda being retarded ? |

I don't know if your Mom taught you some civility, but people generally expect to be treated politely in return if they are polite to others. Yes son, even on the internet.
Let's see. Yes, I have tried Reaper. I did not like it, but that is probably because I am used to FL's workflow. I did not call you a retard for not liking FL, did I?

Shows how much you know about FL. FL has free routing; any channel can send audio to any other channel, and you can control the signal level to be sent via mix knobs. Each channel in the mixer can hence act as a send. How much freer do you like your routing?

 Kontakt absolutely blows for certain things. My drums are mostly pure audio samples, and I may use short samples for textures, etc. Let's see Kontakt do it as efficiently as FL. Oh, I forgot to ask : does Reaper have a step sequencer?

 So is FL's engine.

I don't have a UAD card and don't know about it's compatibility with FL (and therefore can't comment), but I can see how it can be important to some people.
I find FL to have the most streamlined interface of all DAWs. Nothing seems out of place. But again, that is probably because I am used to it.

And that is important because? Stability? I haven't had or heard of FL being unstable. It is rock-solid.

...and you've backed this statement of yours up quite brilliantly in your original post and reply to mine. Finally, keep in mind that I have not said that FL doesn't have its share of problems. |

And fruity doesn't allow free routing. I'm pretty sure you don't really know what that is. Being able to route channels to busses isn't considered free. Can you set up feedback loops in fruity ?
look i know you have a hard on for FL but stop making this into a fruity vs reaper. Reaper does things i haven't seen any other DAW do and it does it well. |

Reaper ftw.
I'm UPGRADING to it from Cubase 4. :)
Most people who don't like Reaper don't like it because of how it looks. This is good, because it means that the developers don't have to support dumbasses and those funds can go back into improving the program. |

i tend to notice how the people that don't realise what it can do are amateurs that wouldn't even think or care about those features. This program was made by one guy and i'm sick and tired of ty companies making ty products (SB) that take 6 months to get patched that i think this guy deserves support more than any DAW developper. At least try it before swearing it off. IT is 3 megs and free to try. |
