| they taught us to speed read in elementary school and high school, so I do it on a regular basis. As long as you're able to soak in info fast without reading every word thoroughly, you're ok. |

| Yeah, it's possible. It's gotten me out of a lot of jams with homework. I would never do it when reading for fun, but if you're just looking for the main points, it suffices. |

That's called "skimming", not speed reading. :p
I read at around 600 WPM when going flat stick, which, according to wikipedia, is pretty much speed reading. I didn't know that until today. :gsmile:
Normally I'm around 400WPM if reading a book recreationally.
So echosystm, to answer your question, yes, it's entirely possible to learn speed reading, but only if you are predisposed to being a fast reader in the first place.
I know people my age who still look at individual letters in each word. The key to speed reading is to pick up words as a whole, then eventually sentences as a whole. |
