like balenblanc? the biggest waste of time of 2007?
but really i cant blame you... you dont actively follow the club scene and while you probably listen to loads of famous djs livesets and maybe some locals, you arent out there weekend after weekend rocking it out. if you were we wouldnt be having this conversation.
you're the holiday partier.
nothing wrong with that but id be careful with any generalizations you have about montreal and its house music nightlife. |

fair enough but I'm still waiting for my list, complete with ratings, review and so on. What is this Cherry and Academy like?
(Allied hates the holiday partier and massives, it's sooo apparent :p ) |

I just hate when they talk ;)
I am the exact same when I go out of town for a party or hit something up on vacation- I do get where you're coming from...
as for these clubs, they are just dance clubs, you go with your crew, get drunk, dance, chill etc, then you all figure out where the after party is and the party moves there.
The best afterhours in montreal is not the one you buy tickets for- |

actually, I'd prefer a massive with simply locals and not so corporate. But I have a feeling it would be missing some of the dirtiness of these big ones (I won't go into detail about that), and I think some of you know what I'm talking about ;)
Getting back to the thread, one way to get guys into going out to edm clubs is to bring them out to fair sized joints with good music and lots of women for them to look at. When they become selective later on, then they can check out other edm places around the city and stuff. |

i guess things are different in ottawa... over here i hardly know anyone who doesnt listen to house or at least go out and party to it...
i think my friends party more than i do :p
there is a definite cultural barrier here |

I know people in Montreal even who don't party to edm at all.. so who's guilty of sweeping generalizations now, huh? :p
I have friends from all walks, party due to having 9-5 and perhaps living here, other reasons, etc. 'Threadstarter said he has friends that don't go out much.. if they do come out with him, then this is the advice I'd give him. Okay, I'm out.. gotta see go home and pop my "Cherry" ;) |

Well, I'm sold on the pic.. looks like my kind of place for sure. Hopefully it's like that in person. Quite often the EDM scene is too many guys getting together to get all ed up and chat about the dj's setup/tracks sometimes..and even TA here is mostly guys.
As for massives, BeB and Resolution 07 stunk (and Sensation was marginally better, imo) and my reviews reflected that, but at least they had a good ratio. We'll see the next trip to Montreal, as I sometimes go with guys who haven't done Montreal (nor edm) that often and don't wanna do the 20-dudes-for-every-girl ratio type of thing. |

come to dance and have a good time and you will
also, youll find most information about house music in montreal isn't really going to be found on google, and if it is its just going to be a small portion.
do a search for cherry on facebook |

holysmokes Greg!
If thats isn't some elitist bull then tell me what it is?
The way NOW i see it after many years in the "scene", is that you're either:
-a crackcoaine addict
-a looser with no job
-a promoter
-a student that doesn't know where he's going in life
to be able to party all the time and not be the "holiday" type as you describe.
Pick one of these "generalizations" Greg, where do you fit? |
