I think they should stick to having straight up DJs mixing the series, rather than deviating into having artists who also DJ. That way the blatant self promotion that people like the 16 Bit Lolitas and Gabriel & Dresden are guilty of would be avoided.
Any DJ who has previously done a Balance is more likely to do a '.1' release rather than another 2 or 3 disc compilation.
As such, here's a few contenders for #13:
Neil Quigley (though am sure something else is already in the works)
Demi (though with the SOS compilation still in the works unlikely)
Danny Howells
Chloe Harris
Carl Cox |
neat. :disbelief |

God who is left? They go for such a specific sound that it can really only be a narrow roster of artists.
Maybe Omid 16b, Shlomi Aber, Paul Woolford, Peace Division (are they still around?), Spirit Catcher (do they DJ?), Jim Rivers (is on fire right now) |

Spirit Catcher (do they DJ?) |
only one half of the duo is a DJ. he's released a few mixes on their site and also did a guest mix for Kiss 100, but during DJ sets one of them spins while the other plays live keyboard, effects and electronic percussion. they're known more for production and live PA though, so even though i'd love to see them release a mix album i'm not sure they're the best pick for the Balance series.
Ewan Pearson (although he's another guy who's known more for production than DJing) would be another one of my picks. |
