how much are people budgeting for this?
just looking for idea whether I can afford to do this |

Just because the dates were just announced, doesn't mean you have to book right now.
Wait a month or two and see how the prices change. They change from week, to week, trust me.

What I did the last coulple of years, was go on Wed or Thurs, and stay until the follow tues/Wed. A few days of fun, a few days of relaxation. |

well since its my first time going and been ages since i took a vacation imma go for the whole week...infact im gonna try for friday the 21st and come back on the 30th...
now evan..u gotta let me know when ur scoring ur flight tix so i acn pick up one too for that price..
anyone wanna take me in their group for the housing thingy? |

There was some travel group last year that offered a package deal - flight and 3 nights hotel (over the weekend) for under a grand.
I'm hoping to get on that deal this year. |

All depends on how you long you are going for, how many parties you want to hit up, do you eat in restaurants, etc.
One thing you have going for you is the strong Canadian dollar.
I remember in 2004, I got raped by the dollar...it was like 69cents...ouch. |

if you're going with people and are smart about it, you can go for longer for the same amount of time.
My condo for a week and flights last year came to only 1200. Condo was split 4 ways.
3 years ago it was under $900 each for 5 nights. but that was staying in Miami Beach... but it was only an $8 10 minute cab ride to south beach |

Last year was my first year and I had an incredible time (even if I had to party with Swamper a couple of times... seriously all the way across the US and hanging out with Toronto people, jeez ;) ;) [those were some of the best parties by the way])
I stayed for the entire week, plus one day before and a day after, to make sure I took it all in. I think that was the best way to do things as I had never been to Miami at all either.
I booked my hotel in November, my flight in January (flights don't really change much in price from what I found).
I think I'll just be going for the scheduled dates this year, but I'm looking forward to a great time once again! |

hate how this is in the crunch time of tax season. never will work for me, unless i get out of public practice, or move to a large city office that divides its staff by audit or tax divisions, and i was in the audit division...
ah well... not nearly the same AT ALL, but ill console myself w/ DEMF post tax season in may. be happy with what can work :)
my bday almost always happens during WMC too... balls. :( so unfortunate. |
