it hits within about 20min -- less, if you eat it on an empty stomach [or snort it]. most people actually go to bed, and ambien does it's job. however, it's also one of twelve [at last check] hypnotic sleeping agents on the market worldwide, so pushing past that initial hump gets interesting. you most-likely won't recall any of it, either.
