| hey, i managed to spill my mojito onto my laptop keyboard. at the time i just wiped it off and made sure all the buttons were still working.. which they were.. and then went out for the night. when i got back i noticed that the comp wasnt on. after many attempts to turn it on i gave up and waited till morning. it finally turned on and made it to my desktop but then shut off again. ive managed to turn it on a few times but it always ends up shutting down at a different point. is there any hope since apparently it wasnt totally fried? |

Try blowing some compressed air in between all the keys...and leave it off for another 24 hours.
If it still doesn't work, take it to Geek Squad at Best Buy. They have all the tools to take it apart and clean everything out. They charge around $20 for 30 minutes of work. Hopefully they can fix it. |

| In the future, if you spill on your keyboard again, make sure to dry it (unplugged/turned off) with a hair dryer. That has been known to help a lot. |

| take a backup if you haven't already !! Take out the keyboard and look under it to see how much coffee has seeped into the system. you will atleast get an idea about the extent of damage. If there is a significant seepage then its better to contact the tech support and send your laptop in for repair. I had a similar coffee spill on my laptop. Fortunately, it got contained onto the keyboard. my keyboard was destroyed and I had to replace it. But my system wasn't damaged. |

Mojito ≠ coffee :D
Anyways, I wouldn't recommend him opening it up himself unless he actually knows what he's doing. You can make things worse if you don't use the proper tools. Static is a bitch and can up your motherboard you know.
I would say just try to dry it up using a hair drier for about 30 minutes. Leave it off the whole night and try again. If it doesn't wor, then call tech support and send it. |

maybe call up the supplier, i know of people have had their whole laptop replaced, telling the truth about the spilled drink.
other then that as above take it and get it fixed..
it could be linking contacts and shorting power out..

Hmm I know this is a possibly silly question but it is plugged in yes? Because that sounds alot like a dead battery in a laptop thats not plugged in....
I mean it is starting up ok... just dying after a bit. |
