I did 7 hour sets every Saturday @ the Queen Mary during my resident this past year. It's hard. What I used to do was, start slow, didn't get all crazy at the beginning since there's really not anyone there for the first 2 hours, than get creative for the next two hours, slow down, try out new stuff, talked to people around me, than get creative again. Keep the roller coaster going.
I also used to talk on the mic once in a while and interact with the crowd. Another thing, this club would let me play anything I wanted. So I would mix a bit of everything, but kept it all EDM past 1:30am. I also played the cheese around 12am. |

Hmm neat. Sounds like a lotta people, always makes it more fun.
F-ck 12 hours by yourself. Find a few talented local DJs, each of you play for an hour or two, take turns. Split up the cash.
Unless you serious want to spin for 12 hours.
If I was going to get myself into that I'd do up 3 or 4 30-45 min sets, cut them to CD, and mix into them so I could take a few breaks. Seriously. I'd pass out from lack of food and such before 12 hours were up, especially if I waked n baked :P |

I used to do 6 / 7 hours + up to 4 nites a week.
I now work at a large club doing 8pm-6-30am (or longer). Its like second nature now.... couple of things that will help.
-Sleep before you go
-Have a before you go.
-Eat before, and during. Pizza is good (no im not taking the piss...order a take out)
-Dont get pissed- if you drink do it very sparingly
-Sip water constantly - dont drink loads, or you will be pissing like a racehorse. If you sip it, you will sweat it out (well you do in a club at any rate)
-Dont touch red bull unless you REALLY have to... it works short term, but then you get a come down from it, and will feel complete and more tired than before.
-wear comfortable shoes- sneakers or something.
-You will end up irritable and grumpy as near the end...try not to kill someone.
-have some loooong records...or a cdr with a couple of tracks mixed together on 'just in case' or for toilet breaks...
-Keep your headphone volume as low as you possibly can
-If you can, cancel ANY plans you have for the next day until at least early evening, and get some earplugs and an eyemask( like you get on a plane) to go to sleep with.
-ENJOY YOURSELF
