To a point it is. There are objective lines of definition to classify genres.
Like your definition of 'electro' most likely refers to music containing elements and influences both of proper electro and house. Now, the color orange has elements and influences of both red and yellow, but can I look at something orange and say it's yellow?

Color blind people can distinguish between different shades of colors even though they can't identify the colors to which their gray scale interpretations correspond.

By that logic there should be no attempt made to distinguish any different genre of music from another. It should all just be music.
