Well, if I say so myself, this has to be one of the best competition prizes you are EVER likely to come across online! To celebrate their 100th release, the seminal Anjunabeats label are throwing a huge beach party in Goa on 28th December, with label bosses Above & Beyond playing a four hour set.
And you could be joining them – one lucky winner and a friend will be flown out to Goa, put up for five nights and given VIP tickets to the Anjunabeach event! Plus there’ll be a whole heap of signed Above & Beyond CDs and merchandise for the winners to boot!
So what are you waiting for?! For further details click the link below, and to enter the competition just scroll down and fill in the form on the right hand side! Good luck!

| As if destroying progressive trance wasn't enough, they now have to destroy Goa too. |

it's kinda depressing to think that most people entering this will think 'anjunabeach' is a neat name for a beach party that above & abysmal have thought up...
completely inappropriate location when you compare goa's musical heritage with the stuff they make. infact i have to wonder why they even chose that name for their label... |

Hasn't goa been commercialized for a long time now?
Either way, this competition would be ing sweet to win. I've always wanted to go to India. |

To be honest, Goa's association with specific genres of trance and its alleged connections with drugs has tainted the name and heritage of such a massively wonderful city. It's not to say that a lot of it isn't just public perception and unfounded beliefs, but it needs some sort of change, some innovation to make it what it once was again (Not that it isnt great anyway, but stil)
The event sees people like John OO Fleming coming down as well the next day along with a whole host of other big name Dj's. Above and beyond may not be the best place to start, and I agree, they have pretty purposely garnered a lot of hype by choosing the particular name for their label, since Goa had nothing to do with the commercial trance that they make, and saying they are going back to the place where it all started just sounds funny coming from them, but it's obviously a marketing gimmick, and one that a lot of people are going to fall for. I'm going as well, for sure, not as much because of the party, but because there is absolutely nothing better in the world than to celebrate the end of the year on Anjuna or Baga or Calangute with tens of thousands of people all over the world, and if this event helps bring more people to Goa, and hopefully let them see and associate things with Goa on their own, then it cant be all bad. |
