The Secret: The non-sense and the practical truth (pg. 2)

Positivity and prescribed individualism are the corporate new competence.

/broken record.

I'd never heard about The Secret before this thread; I guess people were keeping The Secret an actual secret from me. =/

It's mostly bull though. And the documentary footage even more so; if you focus really hard, invisible waves will emit from your head, making things suddenly go your way? that.

This is just telling people what they want to hear. It's smart control - all the forms of corporate and government control we know of through various books, media, etc. over the last century or so are easy to see from a mile away. It's not actually "brainwashing" someone if they buy the book and worship it willingly, now is it? It is, but it isn't. and that is how they can get away with it.

I'd compare this sort of thought to the majority of people who take up religion; they think that way because they want to. They want to believe in God because it makes them feel safe and it makes them feel as though they are never alone. People want to believe in The Secret because it makes them feel as though they can manipulate their reality to grant them whatever it is they wish in life, fully failing to realize that true enjoyment in ones life comes from not attaining whatever it is you want through wishful thinking, but through hard work; and the things we never actually work to get - those will remain dreams until the day we die. It not necessarily a sad thing - it's a human thing. But some would rather ignore it and submit to the new competence; work to achieve only corporate goals and corporate aims at indoctrinating people to believe they can achieve that brand new product and maybe this one, too - oh, and don't forget that one - everyone needs one of those!

It's a very ugly world out there. People want to believe in whatever because it changes the look of things for a short time - it's not a bad thing, essentially - but changing to change the nature of things, that is what people are being phased out of doing; they live in their illusion while nothing really gets resolved outside of it. And that can be a very harmful thing.

I know the video was a joke. The footage they were making fun of was from the BBC version of the book, no? I'm sure once people saw it on their television, they lapped it right up.

edit: Oh, and I forgot to say, the video was ing hilarious. The part where they crashed their car had me in stitches. As far as I am concerned, humour/satire is one of the highest forms of communication.

Watching the Secret can be absolutely disguisting, yet inspiring because it has nuggets of truth hidden within. The entire philosophy is incomplete and it's presented in sort of a new age sort of fashion, and it that way the philosophy appears to be cheapened to the level of TV preachers, but if someone choose to investigate the matters of what goes into success they'll will find that the movie has some merit in what they are trying to teach.

The results in your life are directly correlated with what you are focusing on a moment to moment basis. This secret is absolutely so simple, you won't ing believe it. Most people(including me) are on this autopilot mode where we are influenced by our environment to help us decide how we feel. ty job? Seems like a good enough reason to feel bad? Nobody wants to feel bad, but nobody wants to change how think. People want to feel bad. I know that's hard to hear, but it's the truth. People would rather keep knocking their head up against a stone wall than change their thinking and actions for the better.

its just the same fundamentals of psychology just dressed up in bull. its like dressing up a piece of into a cute baby costume and making it look so adorable and cute. under it all its still just the same log.

basically whatever you focus all your mental power on, you will find a way to make it manifest. its no secret to the universe, its just the same log people shat ot years and years and centuries ago before this new one came out dressed in a different baby suit.

recently my bro and mom have started to get into this in a big way.

so was thinking abt this and IMHO what its selling is not very different from what the authors of all those "pick up artist" books are trying to sell. i think we (most of us anyway) are absolutely terrified at the thought of not being in control of our own lives...and these types of books make us feel that we can in fact control our own destiny, that we can affect how things pan out in our lives. and thats why ppl. eat it up because it makes them feel like they're actually in charge of their own lives.

depending on who you ask, this might be a good thing or not. i'm a bit of a fatalist myself so IMHO its all just a bunch of bull

well ill say one thing abt the secret. i think its a half truth. im pretty sure theyre th message aka "the secret" is mindset.

now i always relate this to soccer when im trying to achieve a goal because i have been doing soccer for so long.I have learned after 23 years of play, In order for me to score 2-3 goals a game i need to have a certain mindset. I literally have to mentally prepare myself about a half hour - an hour before game time. If I don't I wont score at all. If I do and i o it right i find myself making these goals come true. my mental preparation consists of alot of visualization. I have to go over every play, and go over every goal in my head, and even celebration. I have to get a fire inside of me that not just would "like" 2 goa;ls but "want" 2 goals. This mindset also needs to carry itself ingame. Now alot of my goals don't come the way I imagine/visualize them but they come, and when the opportunity presents itself I capitalize.

trust me it works. once i build up a momentum I can go on long goal scoring streaks (if I'm healthy).

So In some ways I buy the . but i think they lace it with way too many frilly's making you think its magic......theres nothing magic about soccer to me.. I have played since I was 3. If i just started today there would be no way i could score 2 goals a game just by getting myself in the right mindset..

I mean truthfully if you focus on something long enough you'll figure it out. thats why i think the "secret" under all its marketing is just plain mindset.

If I spent every moment of every day on getting my ass rich, im pretty sure i could pull it off within a year or 2

complete . New Age moneymaker that has raped esteemed concepts of meditation, manifestation, etc. what the hell, this thing keeps training you to keep feeding the ego rather than containing the materialistic hunger.

, I watched a videoclip of Hicks Abraham seminars on what to do regarding the economic crisis-my ears were bleeding. this nonsense claims you are responisble for EVERYTHING you manifest into your existence, so all you with a disease, it was your thoughts silly. This also promotes faith healing which is definately not the way to go.

This thinking also makes fortunate people feel at ease that those less fortunate are manifesting their tyness by being negative-even to the extent that the soul of the baby is matched up to that family. and those less fortunate take the complete burden of their situation as a result of what they have manifested, creating very unneccessary guilt.

This is a recipe in the disaster for many in the long run-although it may create an intense short term euphoria. Those more moderate practicers who argue that this helps with confidence in various aspects, thats great, but they must realize that their rational thought is suppressing the outright whack concepts of this.
