I did not have sexual relations with monica lewinsky...

I dunno, the server is probably confused after pulling my profile from three years of inactivity.

ok, i suppose now that i'm no longer seeing double when i look at a computer screen and i've finished up all my work that i had to get done today, i can take a few minutes to reflect on the weekend and write my review...

when Rob asked me what i wanted to do for my birthday this year, my first response was "i wanna party with Garth!" (arecebo for those of you who don't know him by name). we had been trying to figure out for a while when the next chance we'd get to see each other would be, since we hadn't partied since we saw Sven Vath in Chicago back in May, and honestly i just can't go very long without partying with that kid - it's a liberating experience. once it was announced that Spooky and Sasha were playing in Atlanta during my birthday weekend, it seemed like the perfect opportunity for all of us to get together for a night of debauchery. step #1 was accomplished as soon as we booked our tickets for a 24 hour trip to Atlanta.

i had also been a pretty huge fan of Tom's (nrjizer) DJ sets for a long time - always downloading his radio sets or tuning in when he was streaming live, and telling him how kick-ass his track selection and DJ skills are. i sent him a PM a few months before we even had our trip booked, telling him that if him and Rob and i ever had the chance to spin live together, it'd be epic. he told me we'd be like SOS but with cooler shirts, which made me laugh pretty hard. i didn't think we'd get the chance to play together that soon, but step #2 was accomplished when he booked us to play a pre-party set at MidCity, right around the corner from Wetbar.

so for the few weeks leading up to Friday night, i was extremely psyched out of my mind to see Spooky and Sasha, see old TA friends, meet new TA friends, play a preparty set, and check out a city i had never been to... and it couldn't have gone more perfectly.

ok, well maybe i should mention Spooky and Sasha, since technically that's what this review thread is really about, lol. i totally couldn't get into their sets, as weird as it sounds, because i know everyone else really enjoyed them. apparently the last hour of Sasha was really epic, but i was just pretty bored by what they were playing and we had a really hard time finding a comfortable spot to chill at Wetbar. the outside patio was freakin' awesome but i got too cold to be hanging out outside, and the inside was just really hot and loud and too packed. maybe i'm getting old but i just have a really hard time tolerating really insanely crowded/excited clubs (unless i'm really drunk, which i wasn't). Spooky and Sasha played some tracks that i dug, but overall it just didn't do anything for me... so combined with the crowded conditions and wicked headache i had, we decided to bail out early and take a cab back to the hotel instead of trying to force ourselves to have fun. i apologize if we didn't get to say our goodbyes to some of you, but it was just too difficult to find anyone in that crowd.

regardless of the show, the ENTIRE night was just so epic and so fun, i'm still in awe of what a great time i had.

ATLTAs - i met a lot of you so i'm not gonna try to list off all your names, but you are an amazing group of people. you guys totally remind me of the scene in the Midwest where everyone is just really friendly and down to earth and it just seems like we all have so much in common... i absolutely love feeling like i'm partying with friends i've known forever, when in reality i met them only 5 minutes ago. that's pretty much how i felt all weekend (errr, day/night?), and i couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate my 24th birthday. my only regret is that we didn't book our flight home for Sunday so that we could have stayed and partied with all of you for another night. there's a lot of you who i didn't get to talk to as much as i would have liked to, but don't worry.. i'm already scheming when i can return to Atlanta again.

Angie - it was so awesome seeing you again and it totally made me realize how much i miss my MWTA girlfriend!

Josh/Greg/Jeremy - it was a ing blast to party with you guys again (and to meet Jeremy for the first time). it really makes me sad that all of you guys live so far away. like i told Greg following his Patrick Bateman impression at 6:30am, i wish i could kidnap all of you and take you home with me forever. let's make sure we don't wait almost 2 years to party again.

Garth - there's probably nothing i can say here that you don't already know, but i know how much you needed this party, and being able to spend my birthday with you was truly the most epic thing i could have ever received.

Tom - thank you SO much for everything. for the rides to and from the airport, for showing us around the city, for setting up the preparty, for being a rockstar, for being an absolutely phenomenal DJ, etc etc etc... i am so glad we got to meet and i hope we get to hang out again soon!

and finally, Rob (even though i've already said this 100 times) - thank you for the best birthday present ever.

now someone buy me a house in ATL and a magical helicopter with a stainless steel toaster so i can alternate my weekends between Wisco/Chicago and Atlanta!!

:)

The sheer length of that deserves appreciation.

Damn Myra, that was longer than what I expect to write for my MA thesis proposal. It was of course awesome partying with you again and I'm truly honored that you wanted to come party with me on your birthday (I probably would have bailed if you hadn't said you were coming).

I was indeed on another planet for a while, which is why I had such an epic time... like I kept saying, you should have taken those... ;)

I was indeed on another planet for a while, which, combined with one of the awesomest crews I've partied with, resulted in the fact that I had such an epic time... like I kept saying, you should have taken those... ;)

And, uh, glad I could entertain those of you who were on the patio @ 11:45-12. LOL
