Anyone been to halloween in Santa Cruz?

| Because they're shutting down San Francisco my friends are going to Santa Cruz. I heard its a college town and supposed to be a good party. Has anyone been on Halloween and can tell me what to expect? |

yes... went to UCSC and lived there for several years afterwards...
its pretty fun your first time around...
they close down the pacific ave (i think thats what its called) so everyone can walk down...
its pretty fun! Its more fun if you have friends that live in town for the after party! |

| Can you drink outside and stuff? How crazy does it get? I saw a news article that said 20-30K people last year and a couple stabbings. |

yeah... as long as you hide your drinks...
as for stabbings... possible...
there are a lot of gangs and down there...
Halloween is one of those nights that people get a little too crazy!
but vibe is pretty cool... its a hippie town! |

honestly a bit of everything...
very liberal town... loved it while i was there... smoked lots ganja!!!
surfers, hippies, homeless, punks, you name it, they're there...
as for college town...
hell nahhh!!!
after finishing school and living there for a while, most of the "locals" never liked the college crowd... and neither did i afterwards...
you'll have fun though, no doubt! |

| I have friends who went to college up there and never found there haloween get up to be that grand, I'd recomend against it unless you're up for banging sorostitutes. |
