| Yeah, read through a bunch of reviews yesterday. Kind of pissed off I just didn't save my money on the 8800gtx and gotten two of these. |

Yeah in some respects it's better than a GTX. But you would probably need two of these to get something faster than a GTX, but still not quite an Ultra (or an Ultra in SLI for that matter) which is Nvidia's "definitive gaming platform". But for the mid-range, this might replace both the GTS and GTX for those who don't need super high FPS on the highest resolutions with 16X AA. Crysis (the demo at least) won't even work for me on 16X AA, and that is with a GeForce 8800 Ultra. Not a huge difference between 16x and 8x though. This card should probably work with 8x AA fine. It seems like they improved some-areas from the GTX like the clock speed and shader clock speed to close to Ultra levels, but lowered the memory to make it more affordable. |

Are you using DX9 or DX10? I think that the DX9 demo is limited. You can find a patch on the net to fix that though. |

DX 10, it's the default on Vista running the Demo. I have no idea how to enable DX 9, but it will not run on the highest resolution my monitor can handle (1920 x 1200) nor with 16X AA. But I've found out that running it with most settings on "very high", no AA and 1680 x 1050 resolution...is quite smooth. |

| When you say "won't run", do you mean it's just horribly slow and lags or freezes, or like it just won't run at all? |

It runs like a slide show for a few minutes then freezes and blue screens. It runs fine now without it maxed out. It could be the Demo, Vista or the latest (169.04) drivers from Nvidia which are still "beta" drivers so are bound to have some issues.
Believe me, I have a good system (Intel QX6700 OCed to 2.93ghz, GeForce 8800 Ultra, 2gb of 800mhz RAM, Windows Vista Premium). So it should get me a playable frame-rate and not freeze at that high of resolution and AA. |

Yea I know, that's why I'm surprised it runs so ty at that res :eyespop:
I think it will be fine once you get the full version and new drivers. |

Yeah it should work better when I do. I want UT 3 as well. It runs very smooth on my computer maxed out. Next year I may get a liquid cooling kit and be able to OC my CPU to 3.2 or 3.4 ghz. I opted for the QX6700 not the QX6800 because they are identical and you can clock them at very comparable speeds. I could have waited for the QX6850 or now QX6950 which comes out on November 12th, but I bought the computer back in August so neither were offered (I bought it through Dell, didn't really want to but they had a promo going on, and a student discount saved me $500). |
