What can i say? I guess pepi9317 summed it up pretty well on how dull this event turned out. First, $20 or $25 cover charge was kind of stiff. Didn't enjoy 00'set at all. It was the total opposite from what i've heard him spin at last years wemf. I've come to the conclusion that UK trance dj's are boooooooring. I really enjoyed Fuzion's set, love his style. Overall, in my opinion this party deserves a 5.75/10. That is all for now.

peace,
Dave

alright, I know everyone is entitled to their own opinions... and in my opinion it seems like you guys wouldn't know good music if it crapped on your face... there is life outside of euro-style trance, maybe you should open your minds a bit...

just caught on the songs from Flemings set
1 of them was Ecano - Run (Z2 Mix)
Spacepunks - Another Space ( 2000 Mix)

As for Joy Kitikonti, being a labelmate of BXR boss Mauro Picotto, I was expecting to hear plenty of hard italian techno and that I did.

techno? :conf: your quite actually wrong man, joy spun far beyond techno...it was pure tek-house, nowhere near techno ;) he did drop some techno tracks, certainly sounded like acid-techno or something, but mainly the songs were tek-house :)

AWESOME!! What a night! Flemming is just amazing! Definetely on the top of my list for DJ's.

Fuzion you did great! Too bad the sound cut out so much! ARG!

Anyways, awesome night. I think about Tiesto @ KoolHaus, Armin @ State, and now Flemming @ System. Its just too much! =] . You just cant beat parties like these.

Okay look, I don't mean to be rude in my reply so if it comes across as that I aplologize.

First of all do you even know what tech-house is?!?!? Tech-house is merely house music that has more unnatural elements such as synths (rather than bass guitars, etc) while retaining all the other elements of house, such as dubby baselines and low BPMs.

Here are two recent releases of tech-house so you can hear what it sounds like.
Soul Jackers - Get Nasty
Measures - Thesis

Joy Kitikonti plays T-E-C-H-N-O, his style is a cross between commercial italian techno (ala BXR) and Swedish/Belgian hard groove (ala Marco Bailey / Thomas Krome). And he most certainly did not drop any acid-techno, for examples of acid techno check out any sets from the liberator brothers or releases from labels such as Hydraulix, Smitten, etc.

I've read many of your posts on the board and its quite evident that you have good taste in music and a fairly broad knowledge. However it can also be seen that as much as you pull off the "I've been partying since the beginning of time" thing, that you probably haven't been involved in the electronic music scene for more than a few years, and your posts echo that statement in incorrect facts and questions about things that to other people are common knowledge.

As I stated I'm sorry if that comes off as a personnal attack or is deemed rude. And if I am incorrect about what I have posted (about genres, and/or yourself) I will most humbly eat my words. Because as much as I like to pretend I know a fair amount I realize its nothing but a drop in the bucket and I may be the one mixed up. I don't want to sound like a jack ass (ha ha, too late :)) but electronic music is something that I have been completely ingrossed in for quite a long time, so I feel as though I have a farily competent handle on it.

i really don't think it's worth debatting over music styles..

if you enjoyed a party it shouldn't really matter what DJ plays what kind of music.. i mean the DJ might play the kinda music you like, but if the party sucked, then what's the difference?

electronic music has so many genres and subgenres it's impossible that everyone would agree on who plays what because there are so many grey areas.

personally i think something like this just leads to an endless debate and flame war. let's not think too much about it and just try to enjoy the music..

wow...what a night!!!:D

I wasn't sure what to expect because I had never been to System or seen any of the djs that were spinning. I had such a good time, what a party! I loved John OO Fleming's set, he played a few of my favorite tracks that I just did not expect to hear...i died! Joy Kitikonti followed it up with a really banging set! Overall, a great night, with wonderful friends, and great music! Can't ask for too much more than that!

I also want to comment on the scence in Toronto: absolutely love it!! My best nights have been spent in Toronto! I've been to many other cities on the east coast: NYC, Boston, Miami, DC...but Toronto is my favorite! Really nice people, great clubs, great djs. Looking forward to my next trip north, and hopefully get to meet some of you!

Hey all...

I had a great time last night.. I met more TA's than I ever expected I could.. At least 15-20 TA's last night...

I wanted to take pictures of all the TA's there, but for some reason I didn't get started on this till like after 2AM or something.. So I have pictures of all the ones I could find, and they're online here .

I also took some random club shots... During Joy's set, I went and asked the girl doing the lighting (who was DAMN HOT by the way) to put the laser on for me, so I could take some pics (as the lasers seemed to go off around 3 or so, and never came back on.) She turned them on for me, but just left em pointing straight... So I don't have any good laser shots from the latter part of the evening... Anyway, all those shots are available here .

As to what I thought of the night: I thought it was great... John '00 Flemming's set was superb.. He spun a nice variety, and changed it up enough that it never got dull... I believe the version of Childern he played was the 2k2 remake but I'm not 100% sure... I didn't really like Joy's set, but that's simply not my kind of music, so that doesn't mean much...

I thought the crowd was ok, a little crazy close to the DJ booth (people jumping around like apes and knocking people over...)

With regards to that guy who kissed someones girlfriend, I saw that clown.. He was there 2 weeks ago, and asked my sister if she wanted some E, and while doing so stroked her hand (while not as bas as a kiss, it's still rather creepy.)

Fuzion played a great set... The skipping really sucks in that room....

That's about it... Enjoy the pics... (Oh, and theres one TA's name I couldn't remember, so if someone knows his name, let me know, and I'll update the pics.)

Hey hey,
First of all I wanna thank everyone for coming out and especially those who made it on my guest list. I met a lot of you last night and had a great time. Thanks for the deep groove guys for hooking up the trance night in the VIP. I hope we'll be able to have many more.
I apologize for anyone in the VIP about the sound, man the setup was ghetto, the sound kept cutting out, the needles kept skipping, the CD decks kept shutting off. I mean it was like a mobile gig from hell, but in any case the majority of the night was fun. The sound cutting problem will hopefully be fixed for next week.
I took a break around three to go out to the main room and party it up and went I walked in there and heard John drop Mark Norman Overkill, I lost it. It was SOOOOOOO good to hear great banging trance at System rather then the same repetitive, boring, progressive beats for eight hours. It was a great mix.

oh... and while I was playing the VIP, MY GOOD FRIEND CAROLINE brought over John 00 and came up to me while I was mixing and started pointing at my shirt. So you know you just kinda casually give them the "1 minute" finger.... haha - then she's like Cinar this is John..... I think I apologized for fifteen minutes - lol - but man was he ever a great guy - totally cool and really laid back! I thanked him after for finally injecting some energy into the club by bringing in trance. It was great! An awesome night all around.

Well thats it I think - One last thing - Ill be with deep groove in the VIP every friday. We're gonna try out trance nights in there with a sweet mix of banging trance and progressive. I have a free guestlist so if anyone wants to hit system on a regular night with their friends for free courtesy of moi and deep groove then you can email me at [email protected]

PEACE
