Sooo...
Lately Mart has been keeping himself occupied by going through our old files and updating the sounds/mastering to our current level (whatever the hell that might be). Anyway, I thought it would be swell to give these out to you guys too even though he was doing it for his own enjoyment (I know, people enjoy the strangest things :p).
I just want to stress that this is not a 2007 remix/remake/rehash/cash grab, it's more or less exactly the same as the original from 2003 with much improved sound quality and some minor tweaks here & there.
Either way, here you go:
Al Azar - Shattered Dreams (2007 Update) (7:49, 320kbps, 17.9MB)
Enjoy. And keep your eyes & ears open for more... |

| Gorgeous track, but you could have filled up the stereo field a bit more with the synths. Because most of them are centered in the mix, they get lost behind the percs. Kick/bassline combination is solid, but overall this does not seem to be your best work technically. |

No complaints here. To me this sounds as sweet as ever or even better! |

Never heard the old version..or maybe i did but can't remember.
But this feels so good, simple but very dreamy, the main theme makes me stare and just think about nothing..
Really like it. |

| I didn't remember hearing the '03 version, but this one is quite good. |

I really like the Vocals in this one although the flanger that is used at the same time (about 2:50) sounds a bit odd
The beginning isn't the best for mixing, but nevertheless i really like this track, it has this chilled feeling in it |

| Whether a track is mixable or not is not really something I think when doing a track. It's not exactly club music anyway. |

I guess so ;)
I just realized it yesterday, when I wanted to play it in a set, that the break at the beginning comes after a quite short time and is rather long |

I also don't remember the 2003 version, so my comments are coming from a fresh perspective.
When the track first started out I felt that I was going to be disappointed. Sounded like it was going to be a quite "happy", almost bouncy track. Obviously that perspective changed throughout the track and it really grew on me as the song played through. I really liked the percs, and the ending was fantastic. The vocal part was cool, as well as the "8-bit-ish" sounding synths.
Not my favorite from you two, but a definite keeper. |

Very interesting. I agree about the stereo field. I am guilty of this too, that I seem to center things a little much.
The vocal was good. It was probably the most uplifting part of the song in the post-effect of this vocal. Then the piano was a good finish to the theme -- a theme that became more like a grand ambience that the drums paddled upon. The piano finishing up the tune was definately a good idea.
Good ideas here. |
