No. I'm thinking "hey, you like this, you'll probably like that too" What's the point in recommending something that'll be totally different & probably not appreciated as much. |

I'm not suggesting you shouldn't check out the latest stuff from the most popular guys like Tiësto or Armin, but remember that they doesn't do what they used to do in the past so you might want to check out their older stuff aswell. I think their old creations are much more quality than the modern stuff because they have moved so much towards the mainstream pop-sound and away from the stuff that was trance music.
Try out my favourite for the moment, Goa Gil!
He might be concidered to "extreme" for some people, it's too fast paced and too deep, but i say it's the best trance with the most effect to it.
But the style is totally opposite to what you asked for though, i'm just showing that trance can sound very different. Fast, slow, popish, deepish, trippish you know ;) |

ignore him, he's just being his usual elitist bull self. there is a difference between mainstream dance music and mainstream trance music (however marginal), and even dickface knows it. |

| The best way to be introduced to trance is to probably buy some older trance CDs like Paul Oakenfold's "Tranceport", Armin van Buuren's "Boundaries of Imagination" or any of the older "In Search Of Sunrise" or "Magik" CDs from DJ Tiesto. If you like melodic stuff, you will like them and that's a good place to start (not Goa/Psy/Old..harder to find trance releases, he likes mainstream dance which is highly melodic so to get into slightly more "proper" trance...though not as proper as the old school stuff..you will have to look for the old dare I say it "classic" trance mixed CDs). |

Sorry, to save him is simple...turn him to stuff that is similar but (subjective) "better" even though it still might be considered "cheese" and Ian did it with Anjunabeats and Armada. I would take any release from them any day over Jessy, Lasgo, DJ Sammy, Groove Coverage and Candee Jay and all that crap. I think it's silly turning him to quite different stuff that isn't quite melodic ya know. |
