Ok, so i just entered a DJ competition, and now im starting to wonder, what if the mixer only lets you cue one channel at once?

While my mixes sound pretty good with mixers that let you cue two channels together, I had a practice last night with one ear on the live sound and one on the cued channel. I realised one thing. I suck this way - it sounds like ive just started out.

Do most mixers let you cue more than one channel? My numark DXM06 does, but i havent really used any others.

if it's a popular/big club they should have any pioneer DJM, allen and heath mixers that would let you cue diff channels.

Its not really a big club, but they have CDJs and turntables, so i imagine that it is a 4 channel. So they would let you cue two at the same time? I mix using just headphones.

most mixers do allow you to cue 2 tracks at the same time.

if the mixer at the club you're spinning at, by any chance do not have multiple track cueing capability, it's still not a big deal, because it's easier to beatmatch more precisely on loud sound systems in clubs, even if you're using one ear method.

..unless the speakers are not properly placed without a decent monitoring system..

Is it restricted to go and ask to look at the gear? :o

I might just be having a memory lapse, but I currently can't think of any even slightly popular mixers that don't let you cue more than channel at once.

You may well not have cue mix (the ability to fade the cue level between channels), but you should at least be able to cue two channels together at full volume. On some mixers you need to press the cue buttons on two channels simultaneously to cue them both (as simply pressing the cue button on one takes the other off cue)

some of the older rane rotaries don't apparently let you cue more than one channel at one time. some other rotaries too, i've heard.
