I just read somewhere that after u play midi notes in instrument that has an arp u can take that edited midi note "through the arp of the instrument" from the midi out into another channel and u will have new midi notes...the one u hear from the arp
do u get me? :conf:

Khayat, your description is still a little confusing, is there anyway you can explain it better?

I think he wants to do this.

MIDI IN -> VST w/ arp

Yay you have an arp. But you want to record the arp midi data so you can edit your arpeggiation manually.

So somehow you want to do

MIDI IN Track 1 -> VST w/ arp -> MIDI IN Track 2

I'm not sure it will work, I'm not sure the output of your channel with the VST instrument in it will output arpegiated midi note data.

Let me try something...

...okay. From what I was abled to gather from messing about in Ableton was that once a VSTi is inserted on a midi track it's output becomes audio. There's no way of assiging the MIDI data that is coming OUT of the virtual instrument to another track.

Maybe you can find another work around, but as far as I can tell... You might have to grow a pair and write your own arpeggios.

Why not use Live's arpeggiator?

MIDI 1: Input from keyboard > Arpeggiator (You can also put the chord plugin before or the scale plugin afterward if you wish)

Route MIDI 1's output to MIDI 2

MIDI 2: arm and record while playing to Midi 1

this will record the arp pattern to clips in MIDI 2 which can then be manipulated note-by-note. MIDI 2 can contain your VSTi or you can drag the arp'd clip to whatever midi track you want.

Is that what you're going for?

yeah, only some arps are able to send correct midi data back to ableton.

I wrote a tutorial on the midi-arp in live on this forum some time ago. I cant find it, but it is still on here:
