| I am visiting Perth from Vancouver and will have a weekend to Party on the 16th and 17th. Just wondering if there are any good clubs for trance and house I should check out. |

Don't know about trance but Ambar nightclub in Perth was ranked #42 in DJMag's Top 50 clubs in the world poll in 2006 (ahead of Sydney's "Home" club which came in at 45).
Might be worth checking out. |

Ambar - Breaks usually
Giesha - House
Rise- Cheese trance+house
Metro City - rap.
There are more clubs around, also check out Subiaco.
all in all Perth is pretty crap , just see how many people are out at night. |

No decent trance to speak of in Perth anymore. But if you head to Geisha you should be guaranteed some great house sounds. Just don't get into a disco-fight with Breeze on the dancefloor!
If you're into the electro house bandwagon you can head to the Capitol on a friday for Vegasmode.
Other than that I would suggest the following nice bars:
Luxe - Mt Lawley
Must Wine Bar - Mt Lawley
Box Deli - City
Llama Bar - Subiaco |

You should try to fly over to the Eastcoast while you're here. Make an attempt :D |

why? It'd be easier to go to Singapore and hit up Zouk, MOS or the other spots over there. Food is hell cheaper (and nicer if you like Asian cuisine) too, imo. |

Thanks everyone, looks like I will check out Geisha for sure. Whens a good time to show up at night and how much would I have to grease the bouncer if I want to skip the line? Also how late do the clubs stay open?
I spent 5 hours running around Perth before I flew to my site and everyone I talked to bashed Perth's night life is it really that bad? |

Most clubs will be open between 10pm - 6am. Clubs in Perth are not allowed to operate past 6am.
I think Geisha won't open til 11pm. Best time to turn up is between 11 & 12, after that and you're usually guaranteed a line. You won't skip the line unless you're surrounded by 10 hot girls.
The Perth clubbing scene is pretty bad man. Northbridge is a -hole, with Geisha the only real reason you would want to go there.
We have some sophisticated, stylish bars which which will be open til 1am/2am (I've listed them above). But if it's clubbing with style, sophistication and great music that you're after, then unfortunately you're heading to the wrong place.
Perth is the most isolated city on the planet, and unfortunately most people in Perth don't know any better.
Enjoy Perth for what its renowned for: sunday sessions at the various pubs that line our beaches. Especially the Cott or the Mullaloo on a Sunday. You're guaranteed a big noisy crowd with plenty of women. Just don't expect to get a drink in a hurry.
We also have some of the best day-time music festivals in the country, largely due to our fantastic weather. These are usually the best opportunities to hear great, slightly 'underground' electronic music, with great vibes, great locations etc.
A few that are coming up are: Daft Punk @ The Esplanade, MOS @ Supreme Court Gardens, Summadayze @ Supreme Court Gardens/The Esplanade & Good Vibrations @ Herrison Island.
Check www.inthemix.com.au for more details. This site will also list those one-off events that sometimes happen around Perth that might be worth you checking out. If you're a fan of techno, we have Adam Beyer & Joel Mull coming up pretty soon & Green Velvet on NYE.
P.S I'd like to move to Vancouver :) |
