| Midland and Progress in Scarlem is new as well. I guess it must be a good money maker for the city? |

The only thing I'll say is that they should only catch people that run the reds when the light in the other direction is already green. Catching Pett for being 0.4 seconds too late is stupid - the other direction still had a red, so technically, an accident wouldn't ahve occurred. |
But how would the city make the appropriate money if common sense were to be followed? |

| of course its a good money maker, it probably costs F.A. to install compared to the revenue it generates. probably requires little to maintenance as well. |

When your running the light, nothing to do with speeding. |

ive noticed the yellow lights are shorter at many of these intersctions as well. As well, if you take stats at pretty well any intersection that sees traffic volume you will find that they all have a fatality rate. The safety excuse is always used when justifying cash cows.
If this were really about safety theyd hire new police officers or safety inspectors to monitor these corners with their own eyes. This way the actual DRIVER would be charged and not the car owner.Demirit points would be given as well and insurance would go up. This would be a real deterrance. But that would COST the city money instead of EARNING them money as it does now.
As it stands, the city collects a fine from the car OWNER regardless of who is driving and that's the end of the story. Some safety deterrance! |
