| It's quite possible that you percieve a change in the pitch because each successive coin falls through smaller and smaller distance as it hits the stack. Try dropping the coins from progressively higher points. If the pitch doesn't change, then what I'm saying holds true. If not, there's more physics to it. |

I had thought about that, but I tried it out and the pitch kept increasing anyway |
