While you DID catch him on an off night, I have an answer to most of his events. Eric is a very focused guy. If you talk to him you IMMEDIATELY get the sense that he is uber friendly, and RIDICULOUSLY intelligent, but what really describes him is focused. When he is playing, he doesn't look at ANYONE. It doesn't matter what he is doing in the booth, he pays attention to noone. When I was in the booth with him friday, even Dana Bergqvist had to scream at him several times to get his attention, and he was standing beside him. He focuses completely on his set.
However, as soon as his set is done, if you catch him on the way out, he is by far one of the coolest people you will ever meet. I've seen him actually give the rest of his Jack Daniels to people who have Pryda shirts on. He tries to say hello to everyone he can while making his way to where he is going.
My only request to you PaulC is that you catch him again. If you are lucky enough to be at the front when he finishes, get his attention. Chances are you'll have a completely reverse experience than your last time. ;) |

Really nice one Sam... a bunch of us have been hammering his tunes here in India, and they ALWAYS go down well. We're hoping to bring him down to play soon... he has quite a large following here.
... but then it's a country of only a billion people :) |
