Just listened to part 1 and let it be said for the record, I would go to comfort zone to hear this.
So nice not to hear that grating electro house BS anymore. |

(I really don't give a if this reads like I'm bias or ballwashing, I really want to voice my genuine opinion on these sets)
Although the whole set of parts are quality tunes, Parts 1 & 2 for me are magical. So on fire. I'd consider them very high candidates for sets of the year.
Nathan's ear for non-played out vocals & sweeping melodies + Carlo's grittyness = epic
They are on the same page throughout the 6 hours (this is VERY hard to do when dj'ing as a pair)
Some highlights for me:
- nathan sampling/playing a ing thunder & rain track behind a chuggin minimal tune. so deadly. Where did he find this!??!? (32 min mark Part 1)
- Ce Ce Peniston "Finally" works so well in first part. wow
- the 3 part super medley using Ribcage. haha WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE. INSANITY. (29 min mark PART 2)
- for most of the vocal sampling Nathan is using the CUE button. hah Which is painstakingly annoying (for the DJ to do). But VERY effective, it makes the set sound so raw and fresh. I love trying to guess how/what he's doing.
- a lot of tracks were timeless old & new classics, a safeway gamble in having a set on your hardrive for YEARS to follow.
- nathan samples this ing Whooping Siren Bubble sound that blows up Deadmau5' remix of "Dark Beat". I actually thought that was part of the track when I first heard it that morning at CZ. I bought the track on Beatport the next day and was so let down. hah Sorry Joel.
- Carlo's mixing and programming = :eek:
Kudos for making such a ing classic brilliant set, CZ owes you a million for the publicity it's is going to get for it. |

I was only there for the first few hours of this....but this set is in-fukin-credible......
you could count the minor mistakes on ONE FINGER...lol
love the euro vocal over top in the 4th part haha....stellar..
I'll be there for the next event like this..... |
