when i had my older beater car, i would drive after a beer, or a glass of wine - no more than that.
Now that I have my new car, i refuse to drive after any kind of drink. It's too stupid. |

I'd say you should only drink the least possible before driving: and, if you really know you're going to have a drink, have someone drive for you.
(I've never driven after drinking) |

Never.
People who drink and drive may not be 'bad people'. They are however selfish, and incosiderate of everyone else on the road.
Without going in depth about the effects of alcohol, let me simply say that anyone who determines for themselves whether they are sober enough to drive is already making a mistake.
Alcohol impares your judgement/social restraints from the FIRST drink. Therefore after 2-3 or even 4 for you 'big drinkers', you no longer can TRUST your own judgement.
BS. Excuses
"I am a good driver" can not be truthfully stated by the same person who drives after drinking.
"I was 10 minutes from home". This is where a drunk is most likely to get into an accident. The person feels comfortable having driven this route hundreds of times and is 10 more likely to not react in time to an unexpected event even despite what heshe 'thinks'.
If you are a good driver, you wait the necessary amount of time to drive sober.
Myth: Liver eliminates 1 drink an hour.
Entirely relative on weight, amount of rest a person has had in the last 24 hours, hydration, number of meals eaten throughout the day, etc.
For the same person it can vary from 1 drink to as little as .4 of a drink an hour. That's right, if you not rested and on an empty stomach it could take you 2 hours to eliminate 1 drink. 10 drinks may take up to 20 hours....
Just trying to educate a few folks who may have convinced themselves they know what they are doing. |

You can't get to .08 from two beers.
Well...you could, but it would involve a needle and your vein. |
Yes you can. BAC is dependant on many factors, weight, hydration, concentration of alcohol in the beverage (maybe they were strong beers 7%)
And in the 'average male' (used loosely because BAC is very relative) two standard drinks (2 normal beers) could be enough to get .08 if he is smaller than average, or drinking on an empty stomach.

I'm with the "if you drink drive, you are a grade A twat" crowd.
Having lost a mate to a crash when the driver of the car was drunk it puts it all in perspective. |

| Being a "drunk driver" and having a few drinks is different. The most I'll have is 6 beers and wait like an hour or 2 afterwards before getting behind the wheel. There was one time that I drove and really shouldn't have, and still give myself for it to this day. |
