Hey all,

Has anyone used a pair of Yamaha MSP10 monitors for dance production at all?

I'm considering a pair as I can get a really good price on them.
I'm currently using a pair of Tannoy Reveals which are ok'ish but not great so I'd definately want something which is more suitable for EDM and low end re-production.

Cheers

The msp is kind of middle-ranged I guess... they originally cost about 1800Euro for a new pair. It will definately beat the hell out of the Tannoy's.

The other thing is you should really try to listen to them before you buy. Buying speakers is a personal thing. If the speakers are suitable for EDM is about it's characteristics and about yours too. Just because a set of speakers is good doesn't mean it is good for you or your music. You'll need an audio set which feels the most accurate and realistic to you, one that works for you. And that's a very personal thing. Only you can decide if it's a product that will make you happy.
This is why it's kind of a dumb question. Just listen to the speakers and you'll know if you want them soon enough. Often these choices can be made quite quickly if you have some music you know well as a reference.

Check http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/may...yamahamsp10.asp , a pretty decent review right there.

Thanks, seems like they're decent enough for the price. I'll go and test drive a pair and see how they compare to others. The biggest problem we have here is that none of the importers/distributors ever seem to have demo models to go and listen to, it's usually a case of you pay and they bring in the unit for you. So you need to know upfront if it's the one you want.

This has been the case with the genelecs, dynaudio etc all of which I've considered.

Yea it's by far the hardest part. But it's better to actually know what you're buying :). Good luck.
