Hello, I used the search function and got some ideas on stuff but I still need help. So I'm new and am looking for advice on a good mixer. I'm getting second hand Technics SL-1200MK2's and I just need advice on a good mixer, yet at the same time cheap because i'm kinda low from the turntables. =/

Also how is the Numark DM2050 3-Channel?

*edit*

Is buying everything in a package worse than buying separately?

I've got the behringer djx700 - it's by far not the best mixer out there, but it's good enough for what your paying (around 120 quid). The fader knobs are pretty flimsy and the effects aren't the best but it's still a decent mixer.

You should head over to www.decks.co.uk or a similar site and read some reviews and decide which is best for you in your price range.

Cheers

that.

Behringer mixers are a waste of money, IMO; the faders will go scratchy in no time. If you want a decent mixer that will last, get a Numark DXM-06. It's all digital, so theoretically it should last longer even though it is a cheap mixer.

i don't know much about vestax so i can't tell you model numbers, but vestax mixers seem to be a popular choice for budget conscious people

edit: and don't go for behringers, i bought one, and within a couple months i bought a djm 400 because i didn't enjoy it. difference was night/day imo

IMO people use IMO too much :p

Go the numark or a vestax. I had a numark dxm01 for nearly two years, the faders didn't go at all.

Not really sure if that's true - good quality digital faders are more expensive than good quality analogue faders, the only difference is when they fail they'll completely fail rather than going crackly, but a lot of the cheaper digital mixers actually use analogue faders anyway.

Other than that, build quality is build quality... if it's , it's much more likely to break in the first year or so.

I'd definitely go Vestax - if you spend your money on a solid brand (= good build quality) rather than a shedload of features, it'll last longer and also hold its value more, so if/when you do decide to upgrade it'll still have a reasonable resale value (or you can use it as a very solid spare mixer)

People have said a Numark DXM-06

Go even lower, Numark DXM-01 USB. I learnt on one of these puppies, fantastic beginner mixer, won't cost you much, and you'll learn everything you need to about basic mixing, then once you have basic mixing and set construction well under control look into an expensive mixer, and not until then.

I'd choose a DXM-01 over a DXM-06 to learn on.
