There's a few good books and dictionaries about Japanese at Stockmann.. I've been studying it on/off for maybe three years or so.. Learning the basic expressions (how are you welcome and all that) is.. well not easy, but doable! The really hard to learn stuff is the hiragana and katakana kanji things :(
Oh, and the pronouncing is hard as hell. |
Thanks, gotta go take a look someday. It's so true that it's hard :( but it's so interesting and fun :D |

The saddest part is that it's not exactly something you can learn from TV for example.
The pronounciation is totally different from the actual words :(
But praktise make prefekt! |

portuguese, first language
english, readen and written for a long long time thanks to the internet, i'm a bit worse on speaking it though, specially due to the accent
spanish, can read it fairly well and speak it barely, because it's similar to portuguese
french, i had 3 years of it in school with good grades, but honestly haven't learn jack of it, i basically know things like "je t'aime" , "merci beaucoup", "merde" and that's it.

French (mother tongue)
German (fluent)
English (not bad yet not fluent)
Italian (not bad yet not fluent, I suck at writing it)
And I can discuss without being lost in spanish. |

I wanna learn Russian and Spanish :) |

- Portuguese (native language)
- English (getting rusty)
- Spanish (even rustier)
- Russian (it's so rusty I can give Russians tetanus :p)
- Japanese (intermediate level)
- German (basic)
- Italian (rustiest of all... I used to speak it when I was a child but eventually ditched it in favour of Portuguese - I can understand and read, but that's all)
It's hard to practise when you're not among natives... but considering the fact that I'm pursuing a career in linguistics, I don't really need to be fluent in all these languages :p |
