he's better and way more well known than Aoki. the Nicole Ritchie thing didn't hurt that's for sure.

you can't really compare AM and his ilk to the people we see at places like Giant/Avalon/King King/etc. they have totally different target markets.

AM gets booked at places where its all about the party - they could really care less who djs as long as they play the hits. So i give AM some props for trying to work within that environment and do some unorthodox stuff instead of using Serato to beatmatch like most of the djs do nowadays at the hollywood/vegas clubs.

Actuallly I have eyewitness who has seen "mashup" DJs in Vegas play their music out of....itunes...in a playlist...and act like they are DJing. No one who is known though.

heh - i have a great story about something like that....

like 6-7 years ago i had bought one of those Ministry of Sound 'annual' compilation CDs. a month of two later i was at a club in Beverly Hills and i heard the DJ play the same CD and just act as if he was mixing!

I don't think I have ever heard this style before. Sounds like something I try to avoid.

Guess I have done a pretty good job so far.

What sucks is when people ask me what I like to do one of my canned responses is "I like to hear the DJ's play."

That usually opens the "DJ AM/clone/Tiesto . . etc" avenue.

Better just to keep my mouth shut.

;)

Dirty South imo have been cashing in on a sound that was already done to death in 05. I've never heard a track by them that was interesting or innovative to me.

Kinda figured.

Not one to stereotype but that "Dirty South" image remindes me of a douche. Like somebody calling themselves "DJ Cali" or so.

I could be wrong. Can't judge a book . . . right??
