I was just playing :p Often, the best thing to get you out of a "sensitive mood" is a little humour :)

crying, depressing; i'm very much in touch with my feminine side this morning

Nothing feminine about it.

I guess it just comes down to how you deal with your own emotional stress. Some people cry and get depressed, where as others will completely ignore it and pretend they aren't experiencing any kind of pain at all.

Most people will fall somewhere in the middle, I would imagine.

Myself, yeah, I get a bit emo sometimes, but rarely. I'm mostly quite cerebral about my (more extreme) emotions, in that while I FEEL it, I tend to think (overly?) about it in some kind of attempt to figure out exactly where it's all coming from. In my psych degree, it was referred to as "Meta-Thinking" - essentially, thinking about your thinking, and your thought processes.

But meh, that's me.

Let's just say i had a few major tragedies a few years back, Mum died etc.. And at that point i was emotionally dead, i had so much negativity, anger and despair in me that i suffocated all those feelings of distress. Let's just say that's not the way to deal with things (at least for me).

It's pretty ing intense when several years of repressed emotions suddenly remind you that they never went away, now when i have to deal with even some minor stress, all those old things start to stack up on the same pile of emotion :(

Did that make any sense?

Yea, you gotta love it when they've had a whole ing 10 minutes waiting in line to decide what they want, yet they apparently shut off their brain the entire time.

All thanks to the invention of the cell phone.

I can't claim my life was nearly as rough as urs, but same thing happens to me. When something bad happens and I feel helpless, sometimes I ruminate over negative emotions and that can open doors to more and more emotions.

Sorry to hear about your Mum :(

But seriously, I doubt many people wouldn't feel the same emotional despair, along with negativity and anger, as you described.

But what do you do with emotions like that?

What you're describing sounds to me like grief. Of course you will feel grief, you lost somebody extremely close to you. Your coping mechanism was to bury it, at the time, but that just delays it, rather than working through it.

And you're the only one who can really sort it out.

If it's getting to you THAT MUCH, then I would say go and see a psychologist. I know that there is this huge stigma associated with doing that (it might imply that there is something wrong with you, oh noes) but you might gain something from it. It could help?

Or, you were feeling just a tiny bit emo, and I went too far :p

Now.

Naah you didn't go too far. Thanks for the kind words! But i really didn't want this thread to be just me whining about my Mumz tho.

Just wanted to give a little backround as to what lead me to be this emotional :(

This is somewhat the point i was trying to make, not dealing over the negative, opened doors to more negativity.

Anyways, nice replies so far :) Thanks ya'll

Never. I'm void of emotion.

i deal with things as they come so i generally dont drag it out, but i sure as hell dont tell many people. the few people that do know are close enough to me that i dont really have to explain much. i do vent but they know im venting and give me words of encouragement.

sushi: thats me. i totally overly analyze and think about everything. as if its something i could change. i also generally try to think about a situation as if i am a spectator. i do this relatively often. a sort of introspection. i try to keep seeing ways in which i can change and "fix" the problems i have/had. its more like a change in my ways though.
