Yeah, it was only at the beginning that people assumed it was Deadmau5. It's long been established however that it's the In Petto 2008 remix. Too bad Deadmau5 badmouthes the remix though. It's not bad really, and there's nothing wrong with remixing an older track, classic or otherwise |

No, no. I'm not even sure who is behind that remix, but whoever it is, they are not pretending to be Deadmau5. It was just simple fans and listeners who initially tagged the remix as by Deadmau5 because it sounds very much like him. If one is to be cynical, In Petto is getting fame by using a very similar production toolset, techniques and sound style to Deadmau5. However, it is arguable whether there's anything wrong with that if the tools and techniques are freely available to begin with (i.e. Adam K has a similar sound to Deadmau5 but is not copying him on purpose). Deadmau5 has said he only uses software tools such as FL Studio. It's a bad sign when other artists sound like you, so hopefully Deadmau5 changes things up soon (new style or samples etc.). |
