my thesis was about 16 pages long....but that also included about 4 pages of pics/graphs/images. then again, my study was more technical...so it was , "here's what i did, here's the results" kind of paper.

Most assignments for my upper level courses were 20-25 pages or so. That one was more or less a research grant proposal - so background and literature review, etc. If I'd gone on to complete it, the final product should have been something like 120-150 pages.

I dont think the length of a paper proves how good it is. If you get your point across it shouldn't matter if its 12 pages or 200. As long as youre thorough and not redundant youre set.

A few times, I don't even think the professor reads the papers, which pisses me off sometimes because of the work put into it.

So who reads those papers in the auditorium classes?

I would say on average I do 2 minor papers (1,000-2,000 words) and 1 major paper (3,000-5,000 words) per subject, per semester. We do 8 subjects per year here. That covers the course work, which is 50% of the grade. Then you have the exam which is the other 50% (8 exams per year).

I'm doing Commerce & IT Management though, so the actual report itself is usually insignificant, relative to the prac work behind it. My last report was on consolidation; 3,000 words for the report (4 pages?), 26 pages of appendices lol.

Your thesis was only 16 pages???

I wrote longer stuff than that in undergrad :wtf:

again, diff. topics produce different lengths.

i'm sure the stuff you wrote also didn't entail analyzing over 120 forecasts that you made from raw binary data now did it? :p

im glad i still get a mixed bag. some classes only requier 3 pages.,.... others around 14... depends on the class really.

Thankful that I don't have to write any papers. I never really saw the point in writing them.

The length of my papers varies, depending on the required content (duh). But they are very strict about us writing clearly and concisely. If the outline says 5 pages, students will lose marks if they go over that. I guess cause the whole idea is to learn how to interpret research and pull ideas together without including redundant or irrelevant info.

It's not easy for most people. But for me, no problem!
:D :D

I just finished and handed in yesterday an 8 pager. MLA format. should have dragged it on for about 10 pages but i was late at turning it in and just wanted to it to end.
