wow, price of my RT non-stop flight that I booked 2 weeks ago just went down from $615 to $436, but NWA/KLM won't refund the $176 difference...blah! Anyway, great prices if anyone else wants to check it out! :)

from where? i'm guessing you can get the whole weekend for under a grand with that airfare? a third of that line up would be great to see esp at a real massive!

Checked the flight again today, and the ticket went back up to $584. I read online that Northwest had a policy of issuing a flight voucher good for a year (less a $25 service fee) for the difference in fare if it dropped.

Tried calling them last night (when the same flight was still $436), but the lady told me that I had to call "customer care" at a toll number between 7:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. CST. Then I saw on NWA's website that it's better to email them, as they check email 24/7 and usually reply back within 3 hours. ok, so I emailed them and got an auto-reply that NWA is experiencing "heavier than normal email volume," but that they should return my email within 3-4 WEEKS!

So I was going to call "customer care" this morning to tell them about the huge price drop in the fare, but by then it had gone back up (probably because they read my email right away and hiked the fare up, but are waiting 4 weeks to reply!)

Moral of the story: Northwest Airlines/KLM refund policy is a joke. They will do everything possible to make sure you can't get one, so read the fine print carefully and never expect "customer care" to do anything for you!

All that said, I'm still very excited about going to Trance Energy for the first time! :D

They won't even give you a flight coupon with the difference? I just got a $100+ coupon on my united flight. I used www.yapta.com to track it. opps I just read your follow-up e-mail.. doh.. i'd register with yapta, and it'll let you know immediately when the price goes down.

Yeah, tried registering with YAPTA, but doesn't look like it works with Northwest. NWA isn't listed on their site, so I forwarded them my itinerary anyway and got a "mailer-daemon, return to sender" error.

Guess I'll see what Northwest says when they respond to my email in 3-4 weeks...

Update: just found this at www.airlinebulletin.com:

"Yapta does have its downsides, for instance, the site currently does not offer the ability to tag flights on Northwest or Southwest Airlines. However, the company appears to be working on fixing this problem, and once it is resolved, the tool will become all the more powerful."

Ah, so that explains it...
