| Really sad to hear people have problems with their ti's. I got One and have no problems at all. I update the virus software when the new version comes out, it's working fine. I use the vsti part of it, and also run it using the old ways. I also have the virus c, and none of them gived me any truble at all. I have the virus c for about 5 years now and the ti for a year and something... all trouble free. |

i second this. absolutly no problem with the TI. no timing probs, no connection lost, no clicks, no pops, no ... absolut rock solid. though i don't use the motherboard usb controller. i've a dedicated additional pcie usb controller (for ~10€) |

Really? Prove me wrong then.
Try this:
Start with an init patch.
Switch both osc 1 and 2 to hypersaw 9x
Turn the filter down to one third.
Turn on unison, set it to 8 voices.
Turn up the amp release.
Switch on reverb and delay effects.
Now play some big chords, or just smash your hands randomly on the keys. Do this for about 30 seconds, it should start to click alot.
I know I shouldn't really be using that much unison with a polyphonic patch, but it's the only way to reproduce these clicks consistently.
I've been able to reproduce this on all Virus TIs I've used (Three so far).
By the way, this works in standalone mode as well, so you can't blame the USB. |

i assume ur killing the polyphoni with 2*9*8 voices on one single key, when u then press a chord u will have to have 432 poly. lol. |
Still, there should not the pop and click in the audio. :) |

You seem to have totally missed the point.
And FYI, hypersaws are counted as two voices at maximum density. So it would be 2*8 per key. A three note chord = 48 voices.

Exactly. |

I've not tried this and if I do, maybe I will hear some clicks and pops.
What I do know is for the 6 or 7 months that I have used my TI, I haven't had any pops or clicks. Maybe if I did certain tests like the one you suggest I could get them to occur but in practice, it has never happened and to me this is all that matters... |

Yeah, that seems to be the attitude of most Virus TI owners and Access staff. :( |

Do you think that I should be concerned/upset/disappointed with my TI performing perfectly for me?
I completely understand you being frustrated with yours if you are having problems but for those of us that are problem free, why should we be unhappy? |

Because this is not an issue with MY virus. But with ALL viruses.
Atleast that was the impression I got from Access. And the fact that I have sucessfully recreated this bug on three different units leads me to believe that. |

But have you actualy had problems in your day to day practical use or just when you do these partucular settings? I assume you have otherwise you would be happy with your TI.
I haven't had any problems so I am happy. I couldn't really care if it clicks or pops if I do that test, so long as it is okay otherwise. Surely you can understand that? |

You both have valid viewpoints.
On the one hand, yes, I can see that if an instrument works for day to day use, then it's totally not an issue.
On the other hand, the example Eldritch provided sounds like straightforward operation - use these OSC settings, use reverb and delay...it's not like you're making hardware modifications to your instrument. And it's not optimal that you can use standard settings on your synth and the synth isn't built to handle it.
It'd be like getting an acoustic guitar or piano, and if you happen to play at a certain speed, the instrument can't handle it and the sound will be affected. That won't happen - you want to know, if I feel like bashing a heap of piano keys all over the place, the piano will give me the sound of bashing the piano keys.
There's a certain peace of mind, knowing that the instrument can handle whatever you wish to do with it.
but yes, you can look past that and just say "well, I'll never get the urge to do that".
(I have a Virus KC and never had a single issue with it. It'll be interesting to see if the TI 2 is solid, no matter what you happen to want to do with it...) |

From access-music.de:
The new OS features a RTAS version of Virus Control for Digidesign Protools M-Powerered, LE and TDM users, optimisations for Imageline FL Studio 7 among other new features. This edition also includes beta support for Cakewalk Sonar and Steinberg Nuendo as well beta support for Microsoft Windows Vista (x86). The new version introduces a special Live Mode which lowers the latency on certain hosts such as Ableton Live and Motu Digital Performer. We improved Virus Control's handling of songs with large amounts of track automation and added video tutorials for Steinberg Cubase and Digidesign Pro Tools. Various issues have been addressed and improved or bug fixed. In difference to the public beta version, 2.5.1 release is Apple Logic 8 compatible and also fixed an issue which might lead to unwanted crackling while playing. |
