I shall also add Michael Owen to that list
So, two players care about their country... |
His father and whole family is Scottish, just happened to plop out in Englandshire. :p
Besides there is no way that the English players didn't give there all. They just aren't that good.

You clearly don't know your football  everyone who does would know that everytime an English player (other than Rooney/Beckham/Owen) does up their laces, they automatically deflate and lose their will to win because they're playing for England!!!
LMFAO!!!!!! :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: |

It might be partly about effort, specially in less important games, but most of the time I believe the reason for players playing like for their national team, is that they don't fit in as well in the tactics. Don't forget that they spend the entire year training with their clubs, perfecting all the moves and little details, while in the national team they get 2 or 3 days before the match to settle in. Sometimes the players don't even get to gel with each other, as there's always someone injured, someone who didn't get called up because he's playing like for the club unlike last time, or someone who is brought into the first team because the national team manager is changing tactics. There hardly ever is a well-defined starting 11.
Of course, manager incompetence sometimes is a factor too in these FAIL!! events on national teams - but football fans tend to be too negative with all managers, usually they have 2 or 3 favourite managers, and the others are all seen as because they made the wrong substitution once. Same with referees, the difference is that people don't even know any "good referee".
I sense I might be going a little off-topic. :p |

That's the contradiction tho that pisses all the England fans off because they ARE good enough, we see every week in the Prem what they are capable, but with few exceptions, they just do not put as much effort into internationals as they do league matches...(altho I do agree completely they are no way near as good as they are made out to be in the media/some fans/etc) |

He agrees with the Saudi legal system, so that answers that question. He may have also been subjected to it himself, which might explain him being a spaztic... |

lol I was being sarcastic (hence the "" )
Besides, if you had read the above posts you'd understand that I was mocking Smiley's retarded rationale (he did go to a rough school so can't blame him :p)...

If you've every been forced to to PE outside at a British school in November time you'd understand EXACTLY what he was talking about!
Not sure if he's speaking the truth, but it's certainly an interesting take on things! |
