Xbox 360 Best Buy Warranty - is it worth the $60?

Hey guys,
i bought an xbox 360 at best buy yesterday and the sales lady pretty much forced me to buy the best buy warranty for an extra $60 bucks. I told her that the initial flaws with the xbox (rrod, over heating, etc) have been resolved with new shipments of the console (right??). But she was relentless, telling me not to listen to all that and that I have no idea how many xbox's they see break. So i went ahead and got the warranty, which basically means I get a new xbox off the shelf if something breaks on mine in the next 2 years.
Do you think i should keep the warranty or cancel it and get my money back? Do the new xbox's still have high defect rates? Is it not worth dealing with Microsoft directly if something happens to it? I hear they can take months to fix/ship back a broken xbox. |

I know like 3 people who had their 360's die. Keep it
unless microsoft has their own warranty system |

| Best Buy makes most of their money off of the warranty that they make you buy. Cancel and get your money. |

| I'd actually go ahead and get your money back, because MS has extended all warranties to 3 years I believe due to the whole '3 red rings of death' fiasco over the summer. But, but, but, do a little research on that because I'm not entirely sure and I dont wanna be that guy that ends up ing you over. |

| i used to work at best buy during my early college years, and i can safely say that any "performance plans" or whatever nonsense it is called nowadays from best buy is a waste of $ |

Well, sounds like i should get my money back.
Have any of you actually experienced 360 defects? How long did it take to get your system back & fixed from MS? |

ive had several friends with the the RROD. microsoft pays for all shipping and it takes between 1-3 weeks to get your xbox back. but your system shouldnt really be breaking for atleast a year.
whats your manufactor date? located on the back of the xbox next to the seriel number. |

Bwhahaa. I en busted out laughing when i read this. :haha:
...But foreal, i own a launch date xbox 360: to this date no problems - still goin strong. , thats what i payed for and not something that was going to break on me. Even if does mess up, ill still be covered by Microsoft's new warranty plan. So in reality all those 360's fallin apart just extended my xbox 360 life span.

man i knew it.
i was telling her "i don't want it!" too. Pretty funny, actually, i told her that i don't want the warranty cuz the new xbox's have better heat flow and a lot of the old problems don't occur anymore. She's like "how do you know that?", so i told her i googl'ed it. Then she got all ghetto on me like "man you ain't gotta google nothin, i'm tellin you right now that you'll need this warranty so i'm giving it to you". I still tried to say no but then my friend who was with me started to get on the sales lady's side. Then they're both like "just get the warranty, just get it, whaaa whaaaaa" and i didn't feel like arguing with TWO women, so i just got it.
I'm gonna return it though. |
