of course conspiracy theorists support him, he wants to get rid of the CIA. how the hell do you even manage to say that in public? |
Wouldn't CT'ers have us believe that for saying he doesn't like the CIA Ron Paul is on some government hit-list? It's a pretty big hit in their credibility when he doesn't drop dead. |

that would only be the case if your average CTer had a logical or rational bone in their body, and we both know they dont! |

No, we would say that Ron Paul's staunch opposition to the CIA is in fact an ulterior form of propaganda supported by the remnants of the KGB who are, in a roundabout way, funded and ran by the CIA's secret branch that hopes to villainize communism and wage secret wars around the world. Paul know he will lose, therefore creating a sort of puppet figure of himself to take the place of alternative candidates that might very well win. He's also an employee under Clinton.
Follow the money. |

| Haha, this reminds me of an email I got the other day when I was at work. Not sure if it was widely distributed spam or not, but it was an instant classic. First of all, it was addressed to President Bush and Vice President Cheney, as well as Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Reid. Second of all, it was from a purported Russian diplomat who had been stripped of his station by secretive KGB operatives working in conjunction with the FBI to "torture" him for life. He listed a string of nine grievances against the American government, from them seizing $600,000 of his assets in Washington to (my favorite) turning up the volume of the music in Starbucks while he tried to concentrate on using the internet to write this email. The last complaint was that after he had successfully lobbied to get the music turned down, the FBI marched in a teacher with a class of first-graders, who she then ordered to do homework (aka further distract him) while she ordered coffee. I tell you, the FBI will stop at nothing to interfere with our daily lives! |

The vast (I mean VAST) majority of Paul supporters are not conspiracy theorists or neo-nazis. Will you guys at least grant those facts? lol
His support is largely spontaneous and completely grassroots. If a few wackos support him, there is nothing he can do about it. The only reason a neo-nazi would support Paul is because Paul believes we should STOP sending money and weapons to Israel (along with every other nation). Paul's beliefs are not grounded in anti-semitism. They are grounded in Constitution. If the idea of an extremely limited government and a non interventionist foreign policy attracts the support of anarchists and a few other fringe groups, then that is the price he has to pay. But most of his support is coming from everyday Americans who believe our government has become too powerful, and from those who are sick of the path our country has been on for the past 8 years.. |

You're acting like he has some vast base of support, when really, he doesn't. Aside from a small (albeit committed) group of supporters on the net-roots, a substantial amount of his support does come from unsavory groups like conspiracy theorists, neo-Nazis (who like his lack of government regulation over their activities and attacks on welfare, which typically help poor minority populations), and anarchists who salivate over the dismemberment of government Paul says he will preside over.
The population of the United States in 1789 was about 3.5 million people. Today it is nearly 100 times that. It should come as no surprise that the size of the federal government has vastly expanded, especially considering that a pre-globalization world didn't require much in the way of national defense other than a few ragtag militia organizations and some decent diplomats. Today's world is more complex, as is the population of the United States, and government does, and should, reflect that. |

| The size of the government has expanded far more on a percentage basis than the US population. We are talking a several thousand fold increase in size...with government at all levels taking up 50% of GDP. You can argue that government has a role in society, but the $3 trillion dollar monster it has become is very damaging to our freedom. |

i dont think anyone here will disagree with you there. especially under your current admin. excluding foreign relations and intelligence though, where do you think the government should be trimming back?
youre (more or less) libertarian right? a libertarian society is as fictional and utopian as a socialist one. especially in a country like the US. all those hungry people running around with guns ;) |
