There are heaps of "How To" book s around about DJing, a few about EDm production as well. I think a few TAs here have written them in fact, I think one was "the dummies guide to DJing" (feel free to correct me)
While these books are useful while starting out, I at least found, they are only any good for really basic information, but you need to master the basics of anything before moving onto the more advanced/impressive stuff.
It will be a lot harder to get but if you can it would be worth while to find a person who can teach you things. I wish I could have.

yea.i agree with you there.the foundation is always the most important.i 've read a couple of 'how to' books.but they've not been that useful or tend to 'concentrate' on a specific 'technique' or software & stuff..i mean i've taken bits & pieces from each of them but it would be nice to get one that really goes into detail catering for a newbie.:stongue:

taking the little bits that you find useful is all you can really do from any such book, before I started DJing or bought gear I spent a lot of time reading about different approaches and techniques all over the place, heaps of different internet sites and book and things.
The thing is, all someone can do is show you what they do, you then need to find out what works for you and it sounds cliche but its true, after awhile you start to develop your own way of doing things based on a combination of what you have seen/been shown how to do and what you have found to work.

Recess has a good site here: http://www.recess.co.uk/

He used to post here, and perhaps he still does. You'll find some good stuff on his site.

Also, check out How to DJ Right: The Art and Science of Playing Records http://www.amazon.com/How-DJ-Right-...95733863&sr=8-1
