Can my laptop handle my inspiration to mix some HARDCORE TRACKS

I'm starting out mixing, and i have a pentium dual-core 1.6ghz with intergrated audio and graphics, etc... laptop. With VISTA (ugh). I could install XP if i had to...
I'm curious what your thoughts/experiences are on this topic? I'm just starting out but I am very serious about doing this. I've read into the posts and found alot of programs that people tend to use with XP, but what's good for starting out with vista? or should I just reinstall XP? Should I just buy a desktop?

I've never used vista before so I can't really speak on it. As far as the dual core 1.6 you will probably find it a little slow (if you're using vsts) All I know is I had my system operating at dual 1.4 and it was unbearably slow. But we got it running at dual 3.0's and its quicker than I'll ever need. It really depends on other specs of your computer too like bus speed, ram speed, cpu and your motherboard because all these factors interact to create the final product. But personally speaking I wouldn't be able to really produce with dual 1.6's. |

| you`ll be fine if you`re only mixing, just look at what your mixing program needs,xp or lower. |
