This year's been great for this music. Lots of wonderful releases like the Echospace's 'The Coldest Seasons' album, 'World Dubbing' by Nick Solé on Mojuba, the free Glander - 'Vate' album released on One Bit Wonder, and so on...
So since I missed the early days of dub techno and don't know much about the history of it, I was wondering what classic tracks/albums of this genre are worth checking out, or even better: shouldn't be left out? I've really liked what I've heard in 2007. |

I've been getting into a lot of this stuff as well this year. Wish I had a set of decks still so i could fire together a couple of mixes.
The nick sole thing you speak of has been on my wishlist on juno for months. It's absolutely excellent.
Probably one of my favourite labels for this sort of gear is styrax and styrax leaves (2000 & one - finite state ep is amazing his best work for sure).
also worth having a look at are:
Arne weinberg (artist and label)
convextion (self titled album is the dogs danglies)
basic channel (probably one of the most well known and important labels/artists in this sound)
maurizio/moritz von oswald.
frantic flowers (label)
I'll add more as I rememeber it..
Probably the best thing I can recommend is this (also available on beatport)
Maurizio - m series cd |

| +1 on this thread. 'The Coldes Seasons' by Deepchord is awesome, try to check out 'Vantage Isle' aswell. |

| Things like Mono Junk - Channel B and the Echospace album are pleasant to the ear, but how much longer are we going to hear Basic Channel in every release? I'm starting to have my doubts as to whether there is any innovation left in this end of techno. |

There's a good dub techno album by ben businovski on thinner called "simulacraic wonderland". It's free, get it!
Otherwise good sugeston chesco. I suggest "Path of the god" LP from Arne Weinberg, one of my favorite of 2007. |

Thanks for the suggestions! Keep'em coming :)
Dub techno definitely doesn't sound very innovative, but still - are there any tunes in the genre that are considered as somehow groundbreaking or at least pushing the envelope? That's one of the reasons I asked for the classics of this genre, because I thought there were maybe more influences in the beginning and the sound was more diverse...? |

| I highly recommend this mix CD. It really really good mix of old Basic Channel classics and incredibly well mixed with Ableton Live (beats up Hawtin's DE9 easily if you ask me). |

| It ran dry a long time ago. Noone's really been able to do it without ripping off you-know-who. |
