OK. So it has been what, nearly one year, since my last contribution here at TA. I've been busy, but I haven't forgotten all about this place though.
I've got the latest version of reason just last week and had a go with it by remixing a really great song originally made by ENYA. I'm certain that you all will recognize this one...
HERE IT IS - Emotion remix of Boadicea - full 192 kbps
Comments?? As usual really fun...

I have to say I am not a fan of the clicky kick in this production. (you must be a psy guy?)
When all the percussion comes in it is a lot better, but the beginning needs work IMO. I think it lacks a strong bassline, or maybe it's just that the kick far overpowers everything.
There is a lot to work with with a triplet feel
The synths around 2:15 are great.
Maybe try playing more with the vocals so that they fade in and out of the mix more?
In general things seem a little too clear cut in the track, like I can easily tell what every single channel is. I think it's more interesting when different parts start to complement eachother and create a perceived complexity. It gets good when multiple parts begin to work together to create an intelligble musical idea.
The major thing I would do is try to break up that Kick Kick Kick Kick and the snare, because it sounds almost like a march. I would try a lighter touch, especially since this is Enya here.
Take all my comments with a grain of salt because I am sure I have very different taste than you. This is just an outside opinion.
Best,

lol my bad...i was rly high last night and my sound settings are all fvcked up i have no idea WHY....listening now on a different system and there is no clipping.
in regards to the track...a agree with above poster, the kick + snare = march. not a fan of the triplet feel either. and yeah, the kick sounds like some psy type kick. |

OK... I admit... Guilty as charged... So I'm a psy guy... BTW I'm proud of it... :D
As a small reply of your march remark... You do know what... or rather who Boadicea was?
She was queen of Norfolk and fought the roman empire around 50 A.D.
She marched to her own death to be flocked and hacked to little pieces.
Her spirit lives to this day...
And so does mine...
As always the psy(cotic) ghost of Mozart... |
