I used to be able to record mixes just fine, however as of late I'm not entirely sure what is going on except extreme frustration! When ever I record, I avoid clipping (always watching the monitor), I also never put my levels in the red on my mixer.
You can see from the image below that I'm certainly not stressing the line in on my PC.

Download the 1 min sample to here exactly what you see on the above picture, here (Right click, save as).
I have been using Sound Forge 8, never really cared for Audacity as it seems weak and limited in comparison to sound forge. I've checked both outputs on my mixer and don't get any of the clicks or pops I hear when playing back after recording. The only thing I can think of is if some how my 1/8th inch to RCA cable some how got messed up, but it hasn't moved or been unplugged or anything in a few months.
Originally I built a new PC and had the problem with the clicks and pops and figured it was just because the built-in sound card on the motherboard sucked, so I rebuilt my old computer and placed it in my studio next to my gear, and still had the same problem today. On the PC doing the recording, I have a sound blaster X-Fi Platinum sound card, which I know isnt the best, but sure is better than 60% of whats out there.
Any clues, or things I can check? I'm going to pick up a new cable today as a hope. Also, is there anything in Sound Forge I can do to get rid of that?! I recorded what had to be one of the best mixes Ive done yet today and this completely ruined it. :(
Thanks in advance. |
